I bought a 1.3 version of ELM327 interface from szhid, but kept on refusing to connect to the ECU of my Ssangyong SUV. I strongly believe that the car is OBD compliant (it has a connector below the steering and the agent uses a scanner to reprogram/upgrade) and after a lot of browsing it looks like it uses KWP2000 protocol. The ELM327 has support for this according to its specificiations. What can be the issue? Sine there were few replies says the Scantool.net does not work with cheap ELMs, I will give it a try with some other software during this week end. Appreciate if any of you already know what to do. thank you all.
6208, what model year is your car and has it a petrol or a diesel engine?
In which part of the world do you live? Usa, Europe, japan, Australia, Brazil or anywhere else.
The presence of the 16-pin connector does not guarantee the car is compliant with any of the EOBD/JOBD/OBD2 rules.
Does the interface work on other cars?
I live in france and also have a ssangyong (rodius) .
Do you finally find a scanner which can erase MIL check ?
I know the scan 100 is already used but it's too expensive for a simple customer .
No the ELM unit I bought did not work with the SSangyong. It looks like either the protocol or the baud rate was not supported. I can see that it tries to read the data, but the read data has no meaning. I still want a cheap scanner - for not so professional work. Please update if you managed to find one.
