    Will ISO 9141-2 work with a car with ISO 9141?

    is it backward compatable? I have a 2003 civic and It is 9141, I think the newer civics are CAN and 9141-2. I want to make sure the 9141-2 elm scanners will work with my older protocol.

    Anyone know?

    The -2 refers to a specific subsection, not a newer/older version. You should assume that with or without the "-2" they're still talking about the same thing.
