Thread: Free OBD2 Software anyone? (No Longer Free)

Hey all. I haven't fell of the face of the earth. I'm exploring turning the software into a product that I can fully support, update, etc. As I have realized, it takes quite a large amount of time and effort to ensure that the software works with various vehicles and scan tools. I have been providing an install for those who contact me via PM with an email address.

Okay so back to my earlier posts. I have an Infiniti G35 with a 275hp V6 motor. On the way to work this morning. I had instant mpg go as high as 75 mpg. It never went below 18mpg, even when flooring the car. My trip mileage was at about 28mpg. When I do a manual mpg check. Fill the car/ divide the miles traveled by gallons filled, I have never averaged above 19mpg. I would have to say that at the very least something is wrong with the instant gas mileage, as when I floor the car I would expect no better than 8-12 mpg.

I also noticed that when I hit what I thnink is the trip reset, it resets the polling of PIDs to 0 and I have to go back in and set them all to one, as mentioned several posts above. Thanks.

The MPG is pretty much dead nuts on my car, but I will do some digging and see if I can find any reason why it might differ dramatically in your case. One thing to note: When you fill up your car you are in essence calculating the total MPG that you get. This includes all the times you are not running the scantool and OBD software. If you are not monitoring at all times (e.g. when warming your car up on a cold day), I wouldn't expect the number shown in the software to exactly match what you see at the pump.

As far as your other problem. I have not noticed a problem with the trip reset but I will surely look into it.

I'm looking into it. In my experience with software there is a large time investment in providing a quality product that just works. This is especially true when interfacing with various types of hardware. My wife's patience seems to be growing very short with me spending my evenings working on my laptop
