    I'm an OBD-II noob. Please help, lol.

    I just recently ordered and received a USB OBD-II Scantool from OBDPros

    I'm pretty sure it's the ELM327 chip or whatever

    I'm trying to find a program that i can get free or whatever that works well this tool. I'm also looking for one that gives MPG functionality or how i can put in my car's information to generate MPG (tank size and engine size etc)

    any suggestions? i've tried the following programs

    - EasyOBDII 2.2.0
    - OBD DIAG (standard i think)
    - ProScan 5.0 (i think a trial or something i'm not sure)

    Thanks =]

    Ride Runner with the OBDII plug-in will do what you want.

    i've got RideRunner installed with DFX4.0, everything's working great.

    but i'm not quite sure how to install the OBDMPG plugin. i read the directions, did everything word for word. but where do i go to access it within RideRunner (i have DFX4.0 active atm and it's the only skin installed)

    thanks

    You'll have to install a skin that works with the OBD plug-in.

    ok i figured that out.

    i had removed all skins except the skin i was using (DFX4.0).

    i installed the skin that comes with the installation and i'm getting OBDMPG in the plugin menu but i keep getting this error:
    "Run-time error '11': Division by zero"

    i'm using the Carwings skin pretty stripped down just to get this plugin to work.

    here's my OBDMPG.ini file...
    [COMMUNICATION]
    COM=4

    [VEHICLE]
    MAF=TRUE
    LITERS=2.3
    VE=80
    TANK=14.5

    [AVERAGE]
    NUM=1
    AVG=0
    DST=0
    FUEL=0

    [OPTIONS]
    ExtraOBD=FALSE
    METRIC=FALSE
    UNITS=FALSE

    i've done a search within the OBDMPG thread and haven't found any help. i've seen others with the same error but no resolution...

    oh and i've tried the 9600 dll and the regular one. same problem...

    thanks for any help\suggestions
