You get what you pay for. If you bought an OBDLink or an ElmScan 5, you would have received:

    • A tested, working product
    • Easy to follow Quick Start Guide
    • Installation CD with diagnostic software and utilities
    • Best support in the industry

If your hardware is in working order, we may be able to get you up and running with the ELM327. Can you provide more details about the problem?

Why not start by describing the problem you are having and what you have set up so far?
    Include the vehicle details too.

I have Peogeot 406 HDi (90) 2001 I have had conflicting advise as to whether this model of car is OBD2 compatable with ELM327. If it isnt compatable then it is not the interface or software that is at fault, but I dont know for sure

Peugeot diesels are not compliant, and never will be compliant to OBD2, because the car has never and will never be sold in the USA.
It does not have to comply to the European version (EOBD) until 2004. So, it probably just does not comply.

Socket is required by Law for PETROL cars. And it's cheaper for the manufacturer to use one type of diagnostic connector.
The presence of the connector is no guarantee EOBD will work.
