As of right now, I have enough general beta testers... what I need now is people with a check engine light . I have introduced trouble code reading, however my car seems unable to produce a check engine light (even with the gas cap off) so I don't have any way of testing it. So if anyone has a check engine light who can test this, or even better one that keeps coming back after clearing it.... I need you to test

    The other OBDroid project

    Hi,

I'm glad to have found this project, because it looks a lot nicer than mine. I started an OBDII for Android scanner a few months ago and put it on Google Code:

    http://code.google.com/p/obdroid/source/list

My phone is a G1 running 1.6, so it works with the earlier unofficial bluetooth APIs. I used a generic ELM327.

Feel free to grab whatever you want from there. I'm not necessarily attached to the name, and really didn't make much progress because I'm no good at UI design.

I can test the check-engine light

I have a pre-CAN truck that is currently showing check-engine (slow evap. emissions leak). I can probe it with my ELM327 tool manually with a serial terminal, though I didn't add support to my version of OBDroid for querying it in a nicer way.

Don't worry about it - google doesn't make it easy to find google code projects, for whatever reason. I doubt anyone would be confused at the moment.

I was actually looking for my code so I could do some Prius integration, and I found this project instead. My program was really called OBDTest internally (with the eventual but slow goal of making the OBDDroid project something snazzier). Since you really beat me by getting something usable by end-users, its yours.

I can help with 1.6 G1 integration on this version, if you're interested.

busterbcook: I actually found a 1.6 bluetooth backport, and as I'd like to keep this project closed source (for once) I'm gonna stick to that because the license allows me to do so. If you're interested I could send you a copy of the app and see if it works on your phone, giving you the app for free is the least I can do for "stealing" the name

Beta released onto the market, QR code attached (Hint: Scan it with BarCode Reader). The beta can only read DTC codes, not clear them or display gauges, but this should help to get some of the interface bugs worked out.

    Or just search for OBDroid
