Is citroen xantia equipped with OBD2?

    Hi
I would like to be able to read codes (and more) from my 2001 citroen xantia (2.0i 16v petrol).
could please tell me if it's possible and what sort of cable/interface and software do I have to use?
    Thanx.

It's hairsplitting, but it does not comply with OBD2 - that's only used in the Usa and Canada. Your car should comply with EOBD which is the European version and for your purpose (reading codes and data) is equal to OBD2. All petrol passenger cars sold in Europe after the 1st Jan. 2001 should comply (unless they weigh above 2500 kg or have more than 6 seats).
Any Generic EOBD/OBD2 interface like the Elm327 and software will do for reading the emission related codes and data from the engine and the automatic gearbox (if fitted). That does not include Abs, Airbag, Dashboard, etc. For those systems you need something a lot more expensive.

Thanx for the reply. I understand that the elm327 can comply with the car's ecu to give the basic data. I would like to start there. If it's not too much a trouble - could you guide me what should I do in order to set it up (hardware & software) to connect it to a pc? any info will help since I'm a newbe about it. let me point out that I have knowledge in electronics & pc, so perhaps that might help. one more question please - will that able me to clear fault codes & service call?
    thanx.

clear fault codes? YES, at least the emission related ones that can light up the Malfunction Indicator Light.
service call? NO. That's not considered to be emission related and usually not a function of the egine.

Buy a genuine interface, not some cheap chinese clone and some reputable software.
Search the forum, you will see what I mean.
Any good interface will have a description how to setup the laptop.

From what I've learnt so far, the software that I need is the Lexia. please correct me if I'm wrong. could you recommend the proper interface for it? preferably one that I could build myself. does the ELM327 compatible? or perhaps could you guide me to where I can find a circuit diagrm for the right one?
    Thanx.

If you buy the Lexia you get the interface for free.
The interface is not ELM compatible, that much I do know.

OK, so if I get it right so far - the Lexia is the the software that is compatible with xantia's obd. now, what is left is the hardware interface to connect the car obd to a pc. if someone knows anything about it and is willing to share his knowledge - I'm all ears.
    thanx.
