OBDLink SX is an inexpensive, plug-and-play version of OBDLink.

Great:der: I just received my OBDLink in the mail today! Is there any reason I should return the OBDLink. I am looking for the fastest refresh using DashCommand and Centrafuse.

OBDLink and OBDLink SX will give you identical refresh rates: both scan tools run virtually identical code, and use the same FTDI chip for UART to USB conversion.

Think of SX as OBDLink that was redesigned for low cost and ease of use. If you intend to use your OBD interface with a CarPC, OBDLink is probably a more flexible choice.

Hi Vitaliy,

What exactly is the difference between the OBDLink SX & the original OBDLink (i.e. what features are or are not included).

Also considering the form factor is quite large (i.e. the scanner will stick out from the OBD port this may be a concern for people that have the OBD port near the drivers legs) will there be any special deals for the J1962M Right Angle to J1962F extension cables?

Lots of questions :)

Is this going to replace the Elmscan 5 on the low end, basically? My wife bought me one for Christmas (the elmscan) and I was thinking about either keeping it for a while or moving up to something with bluetooth (to link to my phone).

Thanks Vitaliy, I got it installed and updated the firmware and all seems ok once I get it properly embedded with Centrafuse. Now all I need is some help with someone who can modify some DashBoards!

- OBDLink SX has one status LED, instead of five
- OBDLink SX doesn't have an onboard 5V regulator, it is powered solely from the USB port.
- OBDLink SX comes in "one piece": you don't get separate OBD and USB cables
- OBDLink SX automatically enters low power mode when the host computer is shut down or suspended

We are planning to continue selling both devices side by side, for as long as there is continued demand. What kind of phone do you have?
