I would say EFILive any day over HPTuners.
EFILive has a nicer GUI and overall performs better than HPTuners. I currently use EFILive to tune my truck..
Has anyone here used HPTuners or EFILive? I'm considering purchasing one of them. They both come with nice PC -> OBD2 interfaces.
I'm curious about the pros/cons of each. EFILive is nice because you can 1. download a trial version and 2. the vehicle interface can act stand-alone. HPTuners seems to have a larger following, but you can't really see their software until you buy it.
Thanks for any insight!

I like that you can download the software and have a look at it. I'm leaning towards EFILive anyway.
Can you tell me about the interface? What can it do when not connected to the computer? It looks like it would have some good stand-alone capabilities, due to the LCD and keypad, but there is very little information about it.
What kind of truck do you have? Pics?
You can scan engine parameters, save those to scan later, make a log file of what your scanning, etc. You can Read/Write the ECM with the standalone. Basically everything that the PC will do besides editing the tune file that you saved to the device or read into the device. I tuned my Daily Driver 06 Chevy Duramax, I currently have a 2011 Duramax which isn't supported but awaiting patiently for them to get that sorted out.
