Thread: CAN bus sniffing hardware / software recipe

I use http://www.scantool.net/obdlink-mx.html and a custom software I wrote, called ObdTool. Unfortunatly there are no windows binaries available, so you have to compile from source which is none too easy, but eventually I'll have some available. If you're on linux, it will be much easier to compile: http://gitorious.org/libobd/obdtool

I see but I am trying to sniff a testor tool to get the Extended PID of mode 0x21. The ecu ROM has been modified and the company behind it confirm me that the PID were custom.... so I need to run the "testor" and to sniff at the same time...

Yes it is. This one is the cheapest I can find so far.
