OBD-II Info

I want to do OBD-II with my CarPC, but I can't find a lot of info to interface it with. I am sure its possible but.. Can someone who has done this pop a msg up with some real info?

OBD-II is fun, you can check error codes just so long as they are emissions related, it won’t help you with vehicle specific things like transmission, air bags, ABS, etc. Those codes and information are tightly protected by the automotive companies (you’ll have to talk to your Congressman to get that changed, I’ve been begging for years). But OBD-II will let you query about a dozen engine perimeters, such as vehicle speed, engine speed, coolant temperature, air intake temperature, etc.

I don't really care about the rest, but it would be nice to get some transmission info.. Is there something that can tell when I up/down shift? (It's a manule)
