OK, so I got one of these OBDII scan tool and I hooked it to my Epia M9000 on com1. The program fails to find any thing. I try com2 - same thing. I hook it up to a usb-serial adapter which puts it on com3. Still cannot recognize the interface.
Then I haul my Dell desktop out to the garage and hook it up to that. The program finds the interface right away and everything is working good.
So anyone have a clue why the Epia won't recognize anything through the com ports or when using the usb?

I'm using his Tricom device and EPIA M10000 with no problem. Did you activate the software first using soft.ID you should receive with the scantool?
Make sure your com ports are enabled in the BIOS as well.
Yes I'm pretty sure I activated it. And it does work when I plug it into my Dell desktop using the serial line. On the Epia the com ports are activated. I even tried adjusting the baud rate - it looks like the tool uses 38.4 by default.Originally Posted by nijel

Make sure you change the "offline" userid to the code sent to you by Alex Peper. I have had better luck calling him on a Sunday.
