    OBD-II and VFD displays

I have found this 5x40 VFD display made by Noritake (cu40066sc-t61a) and two weeks ago my Elmscan boards came in. I have read a bunch of messages saying that you guys used to use VFD displays, back before these LCDs, etc.

What i have notice is there is a wealth of info coming from obd boards and really no great way of displaying all that info on a lilliput without not using it for my music, movies, etc.

I guess my question is, I'd like to run both my lilliput for music, movies, and this VFD for displaying my cars sensors... does anyone know if they use to use these VFDs to display OBD data and does anyone know where i can dig up the software (and the knowledge) for setting this up?

    Thanks in advance!

I am actually planning on doing the same thing. I have a 4x20 display and I am about to order the OBD-II adapter. I have my own application that I use that you are welcome to have once I get the OBD code done.

    FYI

Noritake "T-series" vfd's use TTL via serial... most the software out there for displaying to serial vfd/lcd's don't do TTL, so you may have to code something yourself. Save your time, get something already supported for the software you are using.

Well, TTL is just a level, it can be converted. The code would be the same, but it probably wont work for a 5x.

I know nothing about this board. There doesnt seem to be any 5x out there. I think this board might have been special made, so that is where my problem will be. Anyway, i have ordered 2 LCD (4x20) off of ebay for $25, to stay compatible.

    Any help will be appreciated!
