I can't speak on Scantool, but I did get the completed BR-3 & it's pretty cool.. I haven't done too much w/ it though. The software from the site is also pretty cool, even if it does look a little outdated.

I've heard that ELM is somewhat limited, although It's only been hinted at. The OBD Diagnostics one looks cool because it appears that the one unit supports all OBD interfaces (ISO, PWM, VPW). With OBD Diagnostics, I could use that on all of my cars, whereas with the ELM ones I'd have to buy 2 (Domestic/Import). What are your suggestions? Also what software is best, I was thinking about using OBD Diagnostics software.

Can you do diagnostics as well as stats, like I know the one at the local Checkers, you just plug in and it tells you what's wrong.

I also have the BR-3.
The software can give you the basic stats in "graphic" or text mode, i.e. speed RPM temperatures. There's an O2 sensor page, which is beyond my comprehension, and a trouble code page that reads the Check engine light and lets you reset it or whatnot.

Has screenshots of all windows in Windows version. Which reminds me: as far as I can tell, the data coming out of the BR-3 tool is not to the 'standard' that OBD's accept, so you can't switch softwares. I could be wrong, though, as I haven't tried.
"I haven't tried" being that the software it came with is acceptable? It doesn't need to be too fancy, I simulated it and it looks pretty good.

I meant that I haven't tried using any software other than that which comes from obddiagnostics.com, but I am under the imrpession that other software would not work.Originally Posted by Pudge
I know, but you found the software it came with was good for you?

With this software you can also check DTC's and reset the chk engine light.
Most software I've found is pretty basic and not any better than this.
