    OBD on motorcycles

I did some searching, but couldnt find any info on OBD systems for motorcycles.

does anyone have some links or info on motorcycle OBD systems or standards?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

I looked into the power commander, and from what I understand, it is basicly a controler for timings and fuel injection. If that is all it does, I woul rather go with the yoshimura EMS box, since they have optimised maps for yoshimura exausts and can switch between 3 different maps while runing, as well as different maps for individual gears.

What I am really looking for is a sysyem that can read real time telemetry from the bike, like engine RPM, throttle %, vareous temps, o2 levels, etc...., and feed tha to a computer I plan on encorporating somewhere onboard. Preferably, I would also like to be able to display this real time as well. Sort of like this:

    any suggestions?

    Thank you.

honnestly, I don't believe it would be stable enough yet to trust it on a bike, especially if the bike were to be ridden on the street. Track is something else entirely.

There's no standard for bikes like there is for cars. Your best bet is to go to a standalone system like what you've linked.

I've never seen the ProBike thing. Will be doing research on it now...would be nice to have something like that for our bikes.

What Bike do you have? I have heard that Harley's use J1850 VPW. I think there is a poster on here who might know more, I do not have his name but I will try searching through the other posts and report back

2D Datarecording - a couple of very bright German engineers who love to race motorcycles created their own data recording system designed for race use.

Their system uses a connection to the CAN-BUS system on most newer bikes and cars, which is what your OBD connector taps into. Unfortunately manufacturers limit what you can see with OBD, so this bypasses this limitation. Once in the CAN-BUS, they can read almost every signal available, and add external inputs with add-ons like GPS, suspension travel, temp sensors, etc.

I worked with them at a previous job to do data logging on new cars so that we could develop and test exhaust system components to real-world test track motion. Good stuff.

I got a Power commander 2 USB for my raptor 700r, and hook it to my laptop. i get quite a bit of info, but not as much as from an obd. I can also make changes with my laptop to the bike through the PC2 USB. Like fuel/air, top speed, rev limit, adjust for aftermarket acc., and throttle postion/fueling, defueling , and more. they make'em for alota bikes, just get the usb version.
