Hi everyone, I want to ask if anybody knows how can I make my laptop read some signals from my Kia Rio 2004 so I can get at least MPH, RPMs, and maybe engine temp and other stuff. I want to know if someone knows something about this. Ill be very glad if you help me with my project. Im trying to make an aplication so I can run it in Media Engine.

The Equipment and Tool Institute list this showing the Kia Rio using ISO 9141 OBDII Generic Communication Protocols since 2001.Originally Posted by blackrio_projec
Although I have never connected to the OBD of a Kia, I imagine it's not that different than any other vehicle. Check out this post for the OBDII reader I use (it supports all the protocols currently used in the U.S. except CAN) as well as a picture of what the connector looks like.

Hi
I know that this topic is old, but still interesting.
I have kia RIO, which have Nr. 73 connector (20 pin) and I do not find any cable that I can connect car comp with my carPC, to get data from car computer.
Did anyone make it work, and how?
