You are the man, I gotta say. I've been wanting to turbo my car for a long time, still collecting parts...

Now, speedracer, your engine is the 1.6l block with a 1.9l head on it? I think that's what I read, I just want to clarify.

Or are the '88 1.9l as well?

The Turbo parts I found were all stock on a 84 EXP Turbo. Search the junkyards, they are still around but getting harder to find! The turbo works on all the non-H.O. motors. It will physically fit the H.O.'s until they went to the Mazda motor, but the compression ratio makes it a bad idea. Mine is a '88 block and a '91 roller head and intake.

The '88 GT was a 1.9 H.O., but I swapped out pistons for the flat tops, and we also offset ground the crank to destroke it more. Its a 1.9ish motor

What I got is a '95 1.9l. I'm lookin' into the 2.0 head from like a '97 to lower compression. I was fortunate to find an RS turbo exhaust manny. Got a T3 turbo, and also got an intercooler from a thunderbird (?). How much boost can you run?

    still in break in

So far we have the DFI set to go very rich under any boost, but we still have made 8.75psi@ 4200rpm.....prediction is close to a full bar (~15psi). I will have to buy a 2 bar map sensor if I make more than that.

you'll get there. Mine took 4 years of buying parts piece by piece. I had the money, but other toys needed the money more. The tags are from 2000....probably should work on that next

    Hey guys,

I've got quite a few contacts in the Ford tuning industry - so if you need any advice/sourcing of parts for your engines then let me know as I may be able to help.

The common thing for people here when turbo'ing their cars is to use the engine management and inlet manifold etc. from a Fiesta RS Turbo because it makes use of a 2.5bar MAP sensor as standard and uses distributorless ignition, giving a much stronger spark than a coiled setup (I know I know, I've gone against my own words there by having a coiled Cossie setup, but that's something you learn in hindsight!).

    Cheers,

    Andy
