Does it allow real time monitoring of the system when you're driving the car?

A fellow Chevy van fan.. I just aquired a '93 Chevy G20 van myself... and I got the license to say MP3 VAN.![]()
This van is the perfect vehicle to trick out cause there's so much room in the dash and the rest of the vehicle as well... My only problem is the design of the gauge cluster; would like to replace this with custom gauges, possibly using an OBD-I and software.. haven't put much thought into it yet.

Cool, glad I found you guys. My G20 came from a corporate fleet so, it was already heavily modified when I got it. From the front 2 seats and back is completely empty. There were some heavy metal cabinets installed, but I removed them all except 1 to use as storage. I finished up a lot of progress on tricking it out last night and will be posting pics as soon as I can get outside. I am using a GE security camera system as the back-up cam. The monitor fit nicely in the overhead storage bay, after a little cutting. Given how bare metal the rest of the cabin was, running the wires was easy. The 15" Exorvision touchscreen monitor is mounted on a center console metal cabinet between the driver and passenger. The computer is a Dell Optiplex GX270 fullsize tower, with a 2Ghz Celeron, 1 Gb RAM, 3 hardrives-1 at 10 GB, 1 at 40 GB, and the other at 60 GB.
Sorry, I can't help talking about the project whenever I can. What I wanted to ask is if anyone has knowledge where I can get a good OBD interface? The van is a 1998 G20, 3/4 ton 2500.
*EDIT* I found this link while snooping around -> http://www.aldlcable.com/
Since I am new to this aspect, can someone determine whether it is a reliable source of information? If it is, I will visiting Radio Shack today to make my cable.
yea i built the cable off of thier diagram and have been getting readings off my ecu just fine . just needs some fine tuning when i get around to it

Turns out my '98 model is ODB2. I haven't yet found a DIY kit for a scanner and computer interface.
*EDIT*
Here is a pic of my socket. I am presuming OBD2. Can anyone confirm or point anything out I need to be aware of?
