Subaru 1998-2004 have only K-line ( PIN 7 of j1962 obd-2 connector)
I can read it with ScanTool and ELM323_chip.
But I would like to use ve105 - ve116 soft.
It does not work via ELM, neither via simple K-line adaptor.
If anybody has connection with SUBARU and ve105 - give a piece of advice what hardware do u use.

no software piracy talk here
Thnx for the reply.
Did you work with their hardware?
I have heard that ID is needed for some extra features of the soft, O2-sensor and so on. Not truoble codes.
Do you know your MY2004 Impreza is under ISO or CAN protocol?
I've been trying to figure that out myself. See my notes http://www.tmz.com/wrx/wrxcan.htmlOriginally Posted by Imp Guerra
Supposedly it does use K-Line (ISO-9141) and KWP-2000 (ISO 14230-4)
I beleive the 2004 may have CAN, but not certain. If it does have it, it may not be connected to the OBD port (J1962 connector). Pins 12 and 13 on this connector may be CAN.
I'm currently using CAN for an application at work and I'm tempted to hook up a CAN node to those pins and listen...

I've visited www.etool.org and other sites with search.
They all say Subaru MY2004 are CANed.
CAN must be at j1962 pins by SAE order. (see their book HS-3000)
Nevertheless I would like to make my ImprezaMY98 talking to Peppre's ve116 without his interface. A friend of mine works with ve116 via Uniscan using it without CPU, only as K-line adaptor.
Well the official CAN pins would be 6 (CANH) and 14 (CANL) - my J1962 connector does not have any wires going to these 2 pins.Originally Posted by Imp Guerra

yes
right you are!
MY2004 is Iso-9141-2
CAN will be 2008 probably, or 2007 but not 2006.
No.
All these two statetments are wrong.
The soft from A. Pepper (www.obd-2.com) does not work without serial number at all!
I've tried to make it talks, but all in vain.
I've gotten ID and soft talks to US Suraru 1997 via simple K-line adaptor. Subaru does not has L-line, so one can assemble only k-line with a couple of transistors.
Log. function is amazing! I see verious PIDs of Mode01 and so on...
Personally, I'll be using Deltadash from www.ecutek.com on my MY03.

Delta is cool!
Should the ECU be re-flashed before it can talks to DeltaDash or it works with stock ECU's?
I'll be doing the Ecutek flash at Christmas - however Delta should work with a std ECU as well - only the software changes, not the resulting data.
