Digimoto Extra Interface (With Enclosure) & Cables (OBD, Serial)
oh, and it costs 89$ before shipping

from digimoto; about OBD II Cable
High quality 6-foot (1.8 meters) OBDII Cable Type C (J1962 to DB9F), with molded connectors and strain relief. Works with all of our OBD-II interfaces, as well as interfaces made by other scan tool manufacturers such as AutoTap. This cable comes with any interface or package purchased from Digimoto and is not required to be purchased separately.
    it costs 16$.
and what about this ODB-II to serial cable, if i had software could'nt i just use this?
and for refrence, i've searched on this

    When will you ever learn?

And don't you think that maybe the OBD Forum would be the place for this question?

The "OBD2" cable is just that - a cable. No electronics. It is meant to be used with a scan tool elecronics hardware and related software. Here's the chain:

Vehicle ECU (several) <> vehicle wiring harness and plug <> "OBD2" cable <> Scan tool hardware <> Serial / USB / 802.11 <> PC <> scan tool software <> application software (front end)

Yes, I think all you'd need additionally is the software.

    I use this stuff: http://www.ghgcorp.com/dharrison/obdscan.html
at work with my pda, it also comes with windows software. Works pretty good.
Personally I've found that all of this software is pretty much the same. You will only see OBDII related stuff: rpm, mph, o2sensors, tps, coolant temp, and some more, but not much.
You will not see "vehicle specific" trouble code descriptions. You will see the code # (i.e. P1135) but not a description.
All ODBII code start with a "P" and a "0". As in P0446 (EVAP emmissions failure)
It's alot of money to spend for something that is not to exciting. Unless you'd use it at work anyway (like I do)
If I didn't use it at work, or even if I hadn't allready owned the PDA, I wouldn't have spent the money.
    Hope this helps?
