Have You Seen This OBD PCMCIA Connector?

Does anyone recognize what OBD package this might be from this picture? This is all the detail I have for now and I cannot access the PC to remove the card and take a look. I was wondering if anyone can comment if this is a prettyy standard connector, whether these things are usually supplied in PCMCIA form and so on.

Once installed how does an OBD connection appear to the PC? Is it a COM port maybe? This card runs with specialized diagnostic software, I'm wondering how accessible replacement parts would be.

    Chris,

That looks like a standard 9 pin Serial Port PCMCIA card. I do not think that is special for OBDII diagnostics. The black OBDII cable itself does not seem familiar to me, but that might not even be an OBDII cable at all, it could be the back end of a standard Serial cable for all I know.

    Perhaps I am missing something?

The other end of the cable is an OBD connector, the only difference is that this is used with specialized software rather than "general" OBD, I"m trying to figure out if the cable is non-standard too.

When you connect and PBC cable to the PC does it just act as a serial cable with a regular COM port interface or are there special drivers etc to interpret the signal, or is that all in software?

    Thanks, Chris.

From all of my research, there is probably not any speciallized drivers for the cable, its all handled by the software. And digimotojoel seems to be right. That cable looks a little big to be an ordinary serial cable.
