    .

You know this is probably a dream, but it would be nice if Digimoto was skinnable to putin some of the front ends.

Of if you released a nice .dll so application designers could add this stuff into thier software.

I know you can research scantool.net and write your code from there. Last I checked (1 maybe 2 years ago, this information was scattered) and diffacult to impliment.

I think that if there was a nice .dll for developers to impliment in current front ends or a skinnable (touch screen friendly app to use), you'd see sales of your product increase. Because honestly, the next step for us here is tapping into the vehicles existing monotoring system.
Progress [I will seriously never be done!]

You need to figure out which interface your car uses. There's J1850 PWM and VPW, ISO9141, ISO14230 ISO, VFW and maybe CAN if it's brand new and buy the appropiate tool.

Then it just hooks up to your pc through the serial. You can then use digimoto's software or write your own if you're so inclinded.

You can read trouble codes and what sensors your car makes available OBDII.

You can I believe clear check engine lights.

I would be willing to work with a couple of the more popular front ends on this forum to build a plug in into the digimoto system. Do you guys have contact info for the creators of these systems that you would like to see this integrated into?

You think it will work on a 1996 1.6 Ford Escort European edition? I'll post a pic of the connector later if necesary...

Based on the number of posts and threads, the two most popular front ends are FrodoPlayer and RoadRunner.

    Contact info for Frodo
    Contact info for Guino (RoadRunner)

I am just about to order the latest version of digimoto, but have one more question before I place the order. I have a Subaru WRX STi, so I need ISO protocol, right? But that's apparently not the end of the discussion. Refresh time is obviously important, so I was wondering whether you could just give us a definitive answer on how to get the highest speed.

I think I read your prior post to say that the mobydic is almost twice as fast as the ELM, right? And it supports all the different protocols as well? What is the advantage to ELM? Just the price? For an extra $50, I think running twice as fast is worth it, IMHO.

And what's CAN? Is that a 4th protocol option? Would my '05 WRX STi be CAN? I'm just a bit confused on that part.

CAN is a protocol that will be implemented by all 2008 vehicles and newer ~ some vehicles support CAN currently. Basically, that is correct ~ the major difference between the interfaces is the price. The mOByDic is probably the best package for the price, but if you are on a budget, go with the ELM ~ they are both good options.

As a follow-up to this thread if anyone within the UK is looking for an Elm based OBD interface take a look at www.ukobd.co.uk. I have added a 5% discount code for any users who would like to use it - code is MP3Car.

    Thanks,
