We have a tool available that we sell that does this specific task, but costs around $1,000 ~ it's a killer (it works with many cars). Unless you are someone who performs these tasks regularly... there might be something specifically for your car that would allow you to do it (much cheaper).

resetting the computer wont do jack. you have to replace the bags an often replace the air bag control module after a wreck. If you dont care about the air bags (I dont) you are better off yanking the entire system, including arbag computer.
In many cars, simply yanking the bulb will have the air bag computer beeping or buzzing at you all the time

When I had a BMW E36, I mucked with the passengers side airbag without removing the battery first and caused the SRS light to come on. The tool to reset the light cost me about $150, I used it once, and sold it. The tool itself was specific to a certain model range of BMW, and wouldnt have worked for other cars. You may be able to find one like that for your car, dunno. At the time, I was told it would cost $100+ to reset it at a shop due to the fact that they insisted on doing a bunch of diagnostic stuff before resetting it.
I have a 5th gen accord too and my air bags were deployed too, I got so sick of staring at that srs light for years so I finally ripped out the gauge cluster and pulled the bulb out completely.
You shouldjust be able to briidge the circut where your airbag should be with the correct resister for your car and this should fool the system into thinking the airbag is installed. Or take the bulb out, did this in a 106 Peugeot with the resister,,

I have a 6th gen accord. Not sure about the 5th, but there is a plug called the MES connector. You use this and a speaker wire to short it in some wierd combination (similar to a ps2 game) this is how you reset the SRS light in my car. Hope this helps. Not sure if this works after airbags have been deployed.

My work log
Forget about the expensive tools. Resetting the system is easy for your accord. Use google to find a how-to. You will need to replace the airbags first, though. Be careful working with srs stuff. It can be very dangerous. People have been killed by airbags deploying unexpectedly, and if you don't know what you are doing it is very easy to make one deploy unexpectedly.
well now you have a good reason to fiberglass the dash and put on an aftermarket racing wheel![]()
