For all you Suby dudes, Calvin has just released his new ecuExplorer app, the follow-on to his DL1 program. This uses the Subaru-specific SSM protocol instead of ODBII, so the update rate is better. It's way cool, it's free - check it out. Thanks to Calvin for this great program.

Ok, I looked around on the site, and didn't see anything but what cables can I use for this? Can I use that cheapy motorola(?) chip for this, or do I need one of the $100 cables?
(I could post there, but figured it's easier to do it here. I'm too lazy to register)

You'll probably need (and want) one of the $100 cables, as these cables provide the ability to read the SSM protocol in addition to OBDII, and to reflash your ecu. I don't think the cheaper cables have the right wiring to do all this.Originally Posted by kiltjim
I'm not sure which motorola-based cable you refer to. I use this one and it works good for this app. Also the Cobb Accessport cable works, if you already have one of those.
Here is the link on the Tari site with the list of cables to use.

The software is primarily used for data logging, so the interface is pretty bland as of now - just lists of parameters to select for monitoring. Calvin's goal is to eventually add a more graphical dashboard-type display of live data, though. I can post up a screenshot tonight if you want.Originally Posted by SnyperBob

I have an ECUTEK remap on my 02 WRX I am wondering if this will mess with my tune.
Their website says nothing about this...
This is awesome, i am rather impressed with the development that calvin has put into his app. (over the past 24hrs i've been trying to read as much as i can from the site)
If only my stock ecu could control my cut-top injectors... i would in a heartbeat choose to run a standard ecu.
Calvins software doesnt mess with the map on the ecu - it monitors it
so it can peacefully co exist with the ecutek reflash of the std, think of Tari as a smarter OBD tool
As to cut top injectors, keep an eye open for future releases of Tari, in the near future you will be able to adjust those parameters and MORE !

Is there any schematics to make the cable myself?
As I have old 1st gen Legacy, it doesn't have ODB2 port ( I have used ODB2 on newer subbie, MY02, it's pretty good), only 8 pin SSM port.
As it is JDM and non-turbo, not tuned i belive, somehow program from http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/bcbfscan/ doesn't start up. I am willing to do some soldering and hacking to make some cables, is any schematics available? Is it same as on scantool - 4 wires from SSM port to com/lpt port?
