That would be handy, as mugurg has just got an ElmScan 5 and found out his MY99 is not OBD-II compliant (just SSM).....seems that his dealer gave him bum information!
True, I wonder if all the tactrix cable does is the voltage level translation so the ECU can communicate with the PC or wether it has more smarts to it.
The reason being if all it does is voltage level translations there might be a way to get the ELM style OBD II units to play a dual role...

if i can make it work...i am ready to make any test suggested, no matter if i destroy the great ELM. I don't particulary care so much, i just want to read the damn SSM...and if i burn the damn thing, i will buy another device and so on.
i have these mark, thank you, and read that post yesterday. twice..
but: where the hell should i stuff my K and L line into the damn ELM port?...(
Yeah, I know you have them! It was for Michbound...I thought he might shine some light on the situation....
Mark
ohh.. my bad.
I am ready anytime someone will pop an advice for me...
You will not be able to do anything with the K&L line as you car does not have them......!! (pins 7 & 15)
But as per the OpenPort description the pin 9 L line and pin 11 Vpp Line appear to be the SSM pins, but yesterday on VWRX we identified these as pins 12 & 13, which is the same as your connector, so now I am really confused....
Is SSM pin 12&13 as per pre 2001 cars or is it 9&11 as per the OpenPort description....
my car has only 12-13 pins...damn subaru protocol...
