For those of you who have hardwired your OBD scanners into your cars and hooked them into your front-end apps, how do you handle going for motor vehicle inspections? I don't know how it is for all states, but in NJ they run an OBD scanner on your vehicle during inspection, and I'm wondering how it works for people in other states as well if they have an OBD scanner already hardwired/connected into their OBD port... Do you just disconnect it before going in for inspection, or do you have some kind of pass-through connector that allows them to piggyback their connector on top of yours, or what...?

You should disconnect your scan tool and hide the wires.
Even though you aren't doing anything to affect emissions by monitoring current vehicle states, that is not to say that the emissions testers won't think you are and give you a hard time for "tampering".
Tampering... its your car. As long as you pass emissions they can think what they want.

You can agree with whoever you want. You just have to seperate the fear that your doing something wrong and will get caught from the job of an technician inspecting your car. Of course make sure that your hardwired connection isnt interfering, but nothing else. Enjoy
