CAN protocol cable?

I'm finding it hard to find much info on the ford CAN protocol and the cabels seem to be much more expensive than they others.

is anyone using a CAN with a read out..
what cabel have you got..
this is the chepest one i have found

It will be one of the cheapest out there because it is simply Ford + CAN. They actually use the old ELM320 chip plus a proprietery CAN interface. Most interfaces now support various protocols (not just Ford). That is why you see the difference in price.

Ford uses the more common 11-bit version of ISO15765, a multi-byte protocol that speaks on a CAN network. You don't need to look specifically for Ford compatibility; anything that claims CAN support should work fine. If some packages are more expensive than others, they might come with better software. Make sure to compare features!

There's also a less common 29-bit version of ISO15765. I've seen more bugs in the the low-end software with this version, since some of the vendors don't have access to test vehicles. Expect this on some GM and some imports; just something to keep in mind.

thats a fact that joel but they use elm chip with tekmate

Yes and not the latest ELM chip either, they use (from what I have last heard) an older ELM chip, plus a proprietery CAN add on.

pretty neandathol ,its like it fell of theark& came back in with the tide with a can addon lol.but idont want to sound like iam knocking it as it has done its jobbut its seeing the end of its times
