    Laplogger - Anyone used?

    Anyone used laplogger? http://laplogger.com/

    It is the cheapest one around, and uses RJ11 cable from OBD to the elm box. That is cool as it is much cheaper to buy in length and smaller/more flexible than serial cable. Just wondering why i never hear anyone talk about it? Or why everyone else use 9+pin serial cable for 4 pins!

    People use 9 pin cables because they're the standard for serial data with PCs. At the bitrate of an OBD-II interface, I'm sure almost anything that's electrically conductive will do, but why not play it safe?

    Anyways, Cat5 cable is pennies to the foot (I paid $0.05/foot RETAIL for Cat5e), has 8 conductors, and is rated for signalling up to 350MHz (a bit beyond Gigabit Ethernet). That good of cable for that cheap in my mind says it's almost stupid not to use it.
