I'm looking at a Sentra SER Spec V with a view to buying it. The car is a 2002 model and it's very very cheap, for a reason: It won't start. The engine does crank. I did some preliminary work and discovered the fuel pump appears to be dead, and there is no spark when cranking it. (Distributorless ignition.)
My main worry is the computer.
I connected an OBD-II scanner to the port and got NO LINK. The scanner simply won't talk to the ECU.
My question is:
Should an OBDII still be able to talk to a Nissan 02 ECU, or is a Consult tool required? Would you expect this error, 'no link'? The car looks a lot less of a bargain once I budget an additional $1000 for a new ECU.
