There are so much different software availible for the ODB-II readings... (high end) Dyno, AutoTap, VSPY 3... (low end) ElmScan, BR-3...

I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse 2001, i know it uses an ISO9141. What software will work specific with my car?

Do I need any sort of intermidiate controller between the car and a PC, such as the one ElmScan offers? Can I plug the ODB directly into the serial port? What do those intermidiate controllers do basicaly??
