Does an '06 Toyota Rav4 have an accessible CAN-bus?

I've been scouring the internet trying to find out whether or not an '06 Toyota Rav4 (bought in the US with a 4 cylinder engine) has a CAN-bus, and if it is or is not accessible. Pins 6 and 14 are populated on the OBD2 port, but connecting my CAN tool* to the port so far has yielded no results.

From what I've seen, this forum is definately well informed, so I figured perhaps some kind soul here could point me in the right direction. From my searching so far I haven't even been able to tell for sure if the Rav4 does in fact use CAN, so any input at all would be helpful.

*My CAN tool is actually part of a DAQ pc that I'm using as part of my senior design project. It's doubtful anyone here would have heard of it, muchless would have used one.

I don't think the Rav4 has a CAN-bus. My '06 Matrix is very similar in structure, and does not have CAN support at all.

I find that somewhat odd. I've scoped the standard CAN pins (6 and 14), and they certainly appear to have CAN traffic on them (right voltage levels, right KBaud, one is the mirror of the other, etc). How do you know for certain your Matrix does not have CAN support? Is it documented somewhere?

The bus in all Toyotas is similar to CAN bus. But not exactly it. It is only for system stuff ( amps, clocks, cd changers etc ).
OBDII is not a CAN bus on Japanese cars. J1850 I would guess

I plugged in my OBDII scanner, and no CAN info was detected. Just the standard bus found on all previous Toyotas. (I also tested on an '01 Corolla, and it was the same language).

So, if a Rav4 has something similar to CAN that is in fact slightly different, are there any scan tools available that can connect to it and access real-time information like MPH, RPM, and brake/gas pedal activity?

I think an 06 Toyota would probably have a CAN OBD II interface, I know there is a site that keeps track of what interface is being used in vehicles let me look through my favourites and I will post the site.

According to this document, the 2006 RAV4 uses CAN.
