Thread: New OBDII scantool - Beta testers?

Paul, I'd be more than happy to test whatever you come up with. I may end up with a Mongoose in the end, but at the moment the painfully slow nature of the ELM327 on the car side (and the way 'AT ST' works) has me clamoring for something/anything better.

Looks like we're neighbors, I'm not far from Ann Arbor.

I'm new to the forum, forgive my intrusion. Background... about 20 years writing software (these days on freenix and some tiny amounts of OS X... no Windows since 3.1... time flies!). My current projects are the usual in-car PC for infotainment/OBD/datalogging (MINI Cooper S, M roadster) and a more elaborate system for a FactoryFive (PC + Ethernut). In-car PC is currently FreeBSD on EPIA.

not that I personally will be using it anytime soon but I didn't realize packed data wasn't possible with ELM327 and OBDPro as well. Are there any ELM or OBDPro compatible softwares out there that can use ATDP ?

Paul, an ATDP equivalent would be great to have! Also, any updates on bypassing the ascii<->binary conversion ?

Incorporting these two features in your already great tool will bring it up into a whole different level in terms of performance.

I don't think any standard software supports ATPD, anyways wouldn't ATPD be redundant once you eliminate ASCII translations?

The ASCII elimination is not there yet sorry , I will let you know once it's complete.

now that you mention it & I think thru it that makes sense.
Anyways ATDP would be applicable only to data going between the PC and OBD2 tool, and not between Car and OBD2 reader, right ? So it really wont increase the query rate, especially when the obd2 reader is capable of running 128kpbs serial port side. It will probably transfer all that un-packed data with time to spare!

We have a number of folks using the interface in EU but I believe the 97 Peuogeot is not OBD II

The Beta test was started around 4 months back and now we have moved into production.

Paul, you are absolutely correct - the Peugeot is not OBD2 compliant.
