yeah. i really want to get an 96-97 towncar but it might be too tempting to go for an all digital dash.

i know this is an old thread but i didnt want to start a new thread.

ive got a holden VN commodore running the 160 baud ecu. ive used winaldl thru an aldl cable and it works well. I've just gotten a Nokia N96 and i was wondering how hard it would be to run an aldl program on the phone? It runs Symbian S60v3 OS.

That way it'd be alot easier to check my error codes and log the data thru my phone then bringing out the laptop every time.

Is it possible to port a program to run on the Symbian OS or thru Java or some other programming language? Would i be able to run Regal Riders program on my phone thru java?

    Thanks
    Rob

Why not just put a carputer in your car? :-D

But it would probably be able to write a java program if your phone has the ability to connect via serial.

Yeah everyone does a Hello World for their first

That's java, not sure if it's portable to the phone though

yea mine wont make cut it for the phone. Im sure there are lots of different libraries that wont be on the phone and the graphics arent even close to being the same so they would have to be removed/reworked.

Havent done any phone java programming so im not sure how hard it would be and schools been keeping me busy.
    haha

    goodluck though

I have a 94 LT1 in a 57 chevy and it is running the OBD1 system. Have you ever updated the software to work with this setup and if so, can I get a copy to try. I am more of a mechanical type guy but with instructions I can probably figure it out. I am installing an icon-tv carputer in the car and I REALLY REALLY need additional gauges like oil pressure, tach, trans temp, oil temp, etc. Thanks

Too bad about your car 84RegalRider, but there is probably more than 3 people looking for OBD1 gauges. I just got my ALDL cable for the '95 LT1 in my car and going to start playing.
