If you are based in the US the 98 Galant would be OBD II compliant so you can use an OBD II scantool.
If it's non US based all bets are off.
I Think the MUT-II is a mitsubishi approved scantool interface.

plz i have a mitsubishi galant 1998 it have MUT-II interface is it the same as obd-II or not ...so can i use a obd on my ride???

its not US its for gulf specification ....almost japan standards....
so u thing i must bring MUT-II not OBD-II
Yeah I think it's safer to go with the MUT-II unless someone on this list can confirm that the gulf Mitsu has OBD II support

Prior to 1996, Mitsu didn't use standard OBD, so you'd have to go through the MUT-II/I interface which this will. You do need a specific cable from Tactrix to interface with the car though. The nice thing is that this cable supports reflashing the car's ecu, however I don't know if they've gotten anywhere with the pre-2001MY Galants yet.
