I am new to all this and wondered if Frodoplayer will allow me to use my bluetooth in PC to control phone and become handsfree.

I have read I can use GPS OK so that is not an issue.

Is installation fairly straight forward as compared to RR?

OK you guys, I emailed frodo about this too but LONG story short, i had to use the alternative "Line" slot for my audio (which I think is Line In?)

You probably are wondering how this works, well my M9000 motherboard has a 5.1 smart setting that makes it so you can plug it into that Line instead which sends volume to the rear speakers, anyway, all speakers work this way because its simulated surround, this is my problem though:

Frodoplayer volume controls raise and lower the "front speaker" volume (double click the little sound icon in bottom right of your screen in the taskbar, it is also known as "Master volume")

what i did though is go to properties and brought up the "rear speaker" (not everyone has this option) but now when i use frodoplayer controls it does not control the volume because its lowering and raising the wrong volume bar!

Anyway, how can I redirect it to change the "rear" volume bar in the sound properties instead of the "master" volume? (or front in my case)

For those who dont understand, think of it as redirecting the volume buttons to raise and lower volume on Wave, or Midi, or CD Audio.

I've noticed while having frodoplayer open (i even have it so xp boots up directly to frodo player) after a while it freezes and then comes back sometimes after 3+ minutes (varies). I tried installing all the "requirements" for frodoplayer but one said it needed .net to install so could that be the problem? Anyone else having same problem?

Oh and some ADDITIONAL INFO: I've heard the computer as soon as it froze and it sounds like it shut down, like a long "shoooooooooo" sound. As in the fan slowing down

Hello,

Hello,

first i want to say that i really like the idea of frodocom (as far as i understood it :)).
IMHO i think if more developers will use this network and make modules for it, everybody will be able to "design" its own softwarecollection for his carPC like zorro shows in his graphic.
So everybody could choose if he wants a player based on winamp or on mediaplayer and so on.
but the mainproblem is, that we first had to arrange about a general interface description for each module??? or am i wrong?
lets say u have a module which handles the skin, also u had a module which plays music, one for video and one for gps. where does each module know what to do or maybe the skin-module know, what command should be send to what module???
so my idea is to have a definition for each module-type to be interfaced and which type this module is. F.e.:

Modultype: AudioPlayer
Functions: PLAY; STOP; PAUSE; NEXT; PREV; FASTFWD; FASTRWND; SHUFFLE; REPEAT1; REPEATALL; .....

Properties: CUR_SONG_TITLE; CUR_SONG_GENRE; CUR_SONG_ARTIST; CUR_SONG_LENGTH; CUR_SONG_POS; REPEAT1; REPEATALL; SHUFFLE; ALBUMART; ....

ModulType: Mixer
Funcions: MAINMUTE; MAINVOLUP; MAINVOLDOWN; LINEINMUTE; LINEINUP; LINEINDOWN; MICMUTE; MICUP; MICDOWN; PRESETNEXT; PRESETPREV; ...

Properties: MAINVOLLEVEL; MAINMUTE; LINELEVEL; LINEMUTE; CURPRESET_NAME;...

i hope u understand what i mean???

please tell me if i'm totally wrong, but i think if we had such a definition, it will be much easier to the developers to write a module for frodocomm??

bye, hematec

Hi Folks,

here's a wizard for VisualStudio 2003 to generate a skeleton for a new FrodoCommService in C#.

Unpack it into your Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 directory (the destination path's are included but be aware that my root path shows to "Programme" which is valid for a german environment only ;) ).

After you did that, you'll have this picture if you open a "New Project" in VS.NET:

Click on the FrodoCommPlugin icon and the wizard will do all steps needed to create a FrodoComm Service in .NET (i.e. generate Guids for the COM interfaces, create a SNK file for strong naming and so on).

After it has been created, add the FCClass reference to your project, setup the names accordingly and you're ready to rumble.

Enjoy.

Here are the links, explanation below.

FrodoComm

FrodoComm Services Host

What is FrodoComm ?
It's an "Asynchronous Extensible Inter-Process Communication Server"
It's purpose is to allow interprocess communication for apps and services
via a common interface. The docs still need to be written, but some uses
are released as source with the app and the services launcher.

What is FrodoComm Services Launcher ?
It is a small inteface that supports "COM" plugins or services, as well
as plugins written in VBScript or Javascript.
It's primary purpose is to provide a place for hosting services that don't
require an interface, but provide useful things. The services however
do not have to use FrodoComm, so the launcher can be used for other
purposes.

Who would use either of these ?
Well right now, since there is no developer support, no one :)
But as more developers add support to their apps, the uses
will become obvious. (4 developers commited now, including me)

Any app can join the FrodoComm network, it is not limited to just these
services.

For developers, two interfaces are provided, a user control, and a class
module. FrodoComm.exe itself should not be used directly, the control
or class only should be used, as they are threaded when not run in debug
mode. This prevents blocking.

6 demo plugins with source code are provided for developers to get
their feet wet.
4 in VB6
1 in VB Script
1 in Javascript
More language examples will follow, including C#, VB.NET, C++, and Delphi.

I hope to be on hand to give out advice and more documentation
as necessary for use.

A list of dependencies for the apps is as follows:
(Links to come, most developers will know how to get these)
--MS XML 4 SP2 or higher
--MS Winsock Control
--SAPI 5.1
--IE 6
--MS Script Control
--MS Scripting Runtime

For devs wanting to check it out and start working now, check the app
folders for some instructions and source code. Also a demo app is provided.

Note: To bring ServicesHost visible after launching, either relaunch, or
press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER.

I know I haven't explained enough, but maybe you devs can ask the right
questions so I can rectify this. :)
