UnLoadSkin??? how could i un-load a skin in skinbedder

I was working on skinbedder to embed iGuidance, and got it almost to where i want it. But, i thought id try something out, and i seem stuck half way.
I wanted to load a sub skin OnPressDown=LoadSkin(iGMap:Sub) and then on the PressUp unload it. OnPressUp={}

But i cant seem to figure out, or find a way to do this. Does anyone know how i might make this happen, or if it is even possible.

The reason i want this is because i want to be able to hide actions i dont use every time i turn on the computer, but that i still want to have access to when i need them. Like the zoom in and out for example.

SKINbedder got error when using PNG created by photoshop

Im attempting to embed coverjuke in a skinbedder window container.

I have set up the appropriate .ini files. The problem comes with the child windon that is embedded in the skinbedder window. If I position skinbedder window at 0,0 then coverjuke embeds just as I want, but when I move the actual main form location, coverjuke embeds, but it is not centered. If anyone has some suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I can post the .ini if needed.

hi folks, don't kow if someone still uses skinbedder but I'm trying to embed garmin mobilepc in order to get it working better in centrafuse
I tried to understand how sb works but I've been unable to launch and enbed even notepad.exe
could someone give me some basic hints? I really tried a lot and searched the forums
I even tried with old releases (2.5), years ago I was able to get them working but.. I don't know, it won't work now.. maybe I'm getting old? don't know :P
I don't need buttons or actions, only one panel with one wintow to embed and keep embedded even when I resize the main (skinbedder) window. Stop. nothing more

does anybody knows how to use the command "loadingimage=" i need to load an image while SKINBedder is running the first command, because the program that is loading takes like 7 sec. to load, and is really annoying to see the black screen. i try some combinations, but no luck. hope i can get a reply.

Hi all,

New to skinbedder, but I love it so far. Having a bit of difficulty ironing out all of the bugs though. My goal is to use media player classic to play dvds. Due to the space limitation, I wasn't able to call mediaplayer + the path to my dvdrom directly in the ini, so I created a quick batch script that does just that. I then have skinbedder kill the cmd.exe window. This does embed the window, but it doesn't seem to be very stable.

I did search for a skin but didn't have any results (I'm less interested in a skin than just embedding the window into road runner). I figured I'd go ahead and ask before I go and possibly reinvent the wheel.

Here is what I have so far. Like I said, it embeds the window.. kinda.. but it also tends to double up with a mirror of the window uptop and some random weirdness. And then when it switches to the DVD Menu SB seems to lose it. I'm guessing that the window is changing names briefly there, and that's why.. is there something I can do to correct that as well?

under my skinbedder3 folder I created a dir called mpcDVD, and under that another dir called mpcWindow, each with correspondingly named ini files.

i want to make a skin for destinator pn/6 and cant get it to embed in skinbedder! i managed to get iguidance embedded with the window-name "iguidance". The window-name of desti pn/6 is "destinator", but it wont embed. Can anyone give me a hint or as anyone tried yet...iam not familiar with skinbedder yet.
How do i get the class name ....i tried with winspector and it says something like "afx:10000000:0" under class....could that be the classname???

I got the latest version of SkinBedder working fine with iGuidance v3 but I wanted some buttons to do things like Major Route / Local Route / Day Skin / Night Skin / etc. The best? way to do this appeared to be iGkeys which uses Auto-it to "press" the buttons that aren't available with keystrokes. Although my iGkeys script works fine when I just run iGuidance, it doesn't work when I embed iG into SkinBedder. Is it just that I need to change the window names to SkinBedder instead of iGuidance in all the routines in iGkeys? (sorry if this should be posted in the iGkeys forum).

I been playing with Sb for a couple days and is working great !thanks guys for this program... :)

I'm having a little problem with an app that when execute, it goes straight to the toolbar so I was wodering (since I heard boris saying something about this matter in the past) if SB will be able to call the app and do its thing (so far when launching SB the app is just seating there with the same dimensions)

Need help with SB

I am using RR, nroute and SB. I am able to embed nroute and SB to RR. In RR when I exit GPS then enter again, it shows in my task bar another SB and keeps increasing as I switch between GPS and main menu and the background becomes a black screen.

Another thing is that the button seems to be lagging. The animation when changing screen is slow. It starts from transparent and slowly change to solid colour.

When both SB and RR are minimized, it is normal that I have to press RR and SB in order for them to appear together?

I am using SB downloaded from a thread nRoute skin (in progress), 09-02-06

SbOS 4.0 - Development Screen Shot

Here's a screen shot of a new version I have been working on.

Basically you will be able to open multiple skinbedder skins and switch between them, it has a built-in real-time skin editor, and it can auto-embed any foreground window.

The Window Title, Width, Height, and the 4 Boarders are filled in automatically just by switching to Calculator and positioning it on top of the SbOS window. When you switch back to SbOS it will keep all of Calcs information (it does not update values when SbOS is the foreground window). Window Class is supposed to be auto-filled also but I have a bug :(

If I clicked OK in the picture below, Calculator would be embedded in SbOS in the exact size and position it currently is... basically it would just look like the blue Titlebar around Calculator disappeared and it would then be part of SbOS.

Once this is all done, any skinner will basically be able to create their own front-end just by embedding WinAmp (or any other music player) and any other apps they want.

Project-Time-Frame: As little as a month or as long as a year... probably 4-months or so, so be patient. :) I just wanted to post this early screen-shot to see what people think of the idea. I think every front-end should be fully configurable from within the app, not only by tweaking text files. Each AppSKIN will be one XML and a bunch of PNGs though if you do like to tweak text files ;)

I'd like to have the channel buttons in skinbedder, (just sending keys basically), but cropping the slingplayer would be required...

Skinbedder V 2.999999 and iG

I've found ver 2.999999 (or however many 9's there are) to be pretty stable and suits my needs. However, I cannot get the bottom of the screen to display. I've checked hide taskbar in rrconfig, unchecked keep on top in the properties, tried adjusting .ini file for skinbedder and external gps .skin file in bmv2 but cannot get this to work. Any ideas?

Window caption and dialog-texts disappear from embedded application

I'm trying to make the EcuTek diagnostic software (www.ecutek.com) for my Impreza Wrx work in a carputer front-end. I hope this excellent skinbedder app can solve it, but I'm a little stuck on a wierd problem.

I got everything to work until i started making the exit button to close the dialog. The dialog opens and is embedded fine. I close it. The next time it is opened, the window caption is gone and so are most of the static texts in the dialog.

Is there something wrong with my syntax? I open the dialog with this line (The "live tuning" button in ecutek5.JPG):

Run() with Command Line Parameters

I'm trying to embed iGuidance and I'm using the new skin posted here. The skin works great but it still uses a slow way to deal with the nag screen. I want to simply use the "nowarning" command-line parameter when the skin executes iGuidance.exe, per this post in this thread. Then, I'll take out all the pausing and killing of teh nag screen in the iGuidance skin so that it will load faster.

In the skin, how do I use the Run() command and include command-line paramters? I tried putting a space between the command and parameters, but it doesn't like that, and I tried just about every character (like comma, pike, etc.) as well. Any ideas?

embedding iguidance in RR

Hi all, this is a noob question so please don't be too harsh.
I have been fooling around with skinbedder trying to embed i guidance into road runner (using the digital graphite skin). I just can't seem to get it to work. I guidance runs fine if I launch it externally, but I would like a more intergrated look to it when running RR.
Is there a simple tutorial on skinbedder out there? I've searched but there is so much info it's kind of overwhelming. I'm just looking for a simple push in the riht direction or a little 'take me by the hand' through it. If you want to post a do this then do that answer that would be great too, I'm a noob in this feild and wouldn't be insulted. I'm good at using programs or figuring them out usually, but I'm no designer,coder or programmer.

Skinbedder and RR closing problems

First off, great program. I used iGLaunch, couldn't get iGSkinner working, and thought I had Skinbedder working. maybe it's operator error....

i have RR setup to use skinbedder as the GPS app. When i click on the gps button, skinbedder open IG nicely; no menus, buttons on left side, everything looks great. however, when i hibernate and reopen the gps, i can see the satelites, but no info. closing out of the GPS window and reopening it used to fix the problem. however, i now get an error message (which also embeds nicely, FYI). If i exit RR completely, i have skinbedder in the task bar. do i have to configure RR to close skinbedder?

did i miss a setting to wakeup the BT serial connection in skinbedder?

Hi all. I just put this release together so that people would have a working solution for GooPs. The main new feature is that the Send() command has been replaced by the Type() command. Send() wasn't working for GE, but I wanted to keep it for backwards-compatibility. The new Type() command works much better using SendInput API, it supports "HOLD-", and it supports all VK_ keys (without the leading "VK_"). The old Send() command could not send "." or "Period" as well as many other keys that are now supported by the Type() command. I also made the Focus() command more reliable.

Also, there is no "fade-up", but semi-transparency doesn't work very well (it will show through Sb to the desktop). I am still working on getting true Layered windows working and once I do I will release V3 Final (finally :) ). Any skins without alpha-blended PNGs should look perfect.

The only included SKIN is the CF-style Google-Earth skin re-worked for GooPs.

1) UnRAR to c:\program files\SKINbedder

2) Open SKINbedder\GooPs\GooPs.ini

3) Change the number in "GOOGLE~4" to whatever it needs to be.

 

Usage:

The 3rd button from the left toggles all GooPs tracking on/off.

The FF/REW buttons are actually rotate left/right.

When you use tilt/zoom/rotate, that part of GooPs tracking is automatically disabled.

To re-enable, toggle GooPs tracking off and then back on again using the 3rd button.

 

Note:  You may have to click the Google Earth map once before the buttons work.

I am also still working on mercury7's Google-Earth SKIN which will eventually include an OSK for address entry and be a lot closer to a full-featured NAV system using Google-Earth.

FYI: I have no intention of doing anything else with the iGuidance SKIN until after I have V3 Final out and am happy with the Google-Earth SKIN. If anyone else wants to take it over that would be cool, otherwise, just use iGMod :).

I've been playing with RoadRunner and SB 2.5. Almost everytime I active the GPS screen in RoadRunner for the first time, SB will not want to embed properly (even though SB & RR are set up properly). After closing SB from the taskbar and returning to the previous screen in RR, I'll active the GPS screen again and this time SB will embed proplerly. (Basically, I have to open SB, close it, and re-open in order to get it to embed proplerly.)

I figured that the startup.au3 file may be functioning too quickly before the nag screen had a chance to be displayed so I was going to add a delay before the Enter key press is sent. Instead I noticed the function WinWaitActive("") before the Enter key press. This is supposed to make SB wait until a screen with no title is displayed before hitting Enter. I remember back when iGSkinner was in the making that issues arouse because the iG nag screen did not have a caption.

So I decided to give the nag screen a caption and define it in the startup.au3. I defined the nag screen as NAG in the iGuidance.exe and edited the line to WinWaitActive("NAG") in the startup.au3. Since then SB embeds flawlessly everytime.

To add the caption to the nag screen I used Resource Hacker (though I'm not sure if the site still offers a download so you may have to Google it). Open your iGuidance.exe file usually located in C:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance\. Browse to Dialog > 1028 > 1033. Edit the third line which reads CAPTION "" and change it to CAPTION "NAG". Click the Compile Script button and the close ResHacker being sure to save the file before closing. (Note: iG cannot be running when you save; this includes if SB is running.) Now edit the startup.au3 by right-clicking on it and selecting Edit. (If you don't have Edit choose Open-With and select Notepad.) Change the line that reads WinWaitAcitve("") to read WinWaitActive("NAG").

Now SB will wait until a window is shown that is titled NAG. If for some reason your computer lags and is slow loading iG then this will force SB to wait until the window is shown. It worked for me so I figured I'd share my findings. The pic shown below shows the problem that I had before defining the NAG screen and after. Also, the buttons on the left are all full functioning button all of which are displayed and executed via SB (graphics thanks to RR zots.day skin which I have been hacking up and modifying).

PS. While you're ResHacking the iGuidance.exe if you remove the WS_CAPTION from the second line in each numbered dialog, iG will not show a window title and makes iG look less like a Windows-based program. Remove the WS_CAPTION along with the pipe | before it. So if the line reading STYLE WS_POPUP | WS_CAPTION change it to read STYLE WS_POPUP. You have to click Compile Script before moving on to the next dialog. It's a PITA I know but it's well worth it. Note: Do not remove the caption from Dialog 1000 which is the About screen because you will not be able to close the window. It does not have another close button defined other than the one on the caption.

EDIT: I got bored and completely changed the NAG screen. After editing String Table > 379 > 1033 > 6058 to " " I changed Dialog > 1028 > 1033 (Nag Screen) read the following:

I added a screen shot of the dialog to the bottom screen shot. Ha! Now it's no long a nag screen; it's now a splash screen (when used with SB).

Okay. I've pre-typed this post and I got to messing around in RR. I found that I would have problem going from Video to GPS. I believe it has something to do with which windows are in focus. I'm not a programmer so I can't really say but one way or another I was determined to make it work. I got to looking around in AutoIt and found some more commands. Particularly the WinWate and WinActivate commands. The WinWate commands pauses the script until a specific window appears while the WinActivate commands brings the window into focus. When used in conjunction with each other they ensure that the NAG window is present and is brought into focus if it is not before sending the Enter keypress. I am trying to use SKINbedder with Microsoft Streets & Trips.

So far I have created a new Skin directory, and made a ini file to load Streets and Trips, but after streets and trips loads nothing else is shown.

Well, as it says. I'm trying to make a widescreen (800x480 pixels) version of Reddeath30s Mobile Emulator.

Since Mobile Emulator isnt resizeable i have created a layer that tries to catch the emulator windows (that normaly starts embedded in ME). To have it looking for it all the time i have to set the timeout to like 999 999 seconds. This works great, when i click a nes rom, nestopia starts, the layer finds the window and it resizes it properly to the layer i have created. So far so god. If i want to be able to play snes roms as well, i just create another layer, thats looking for Snes9x, also with a huge timeout value. Get it?

That gives me a startup line like this:
"StartUp= ...... Embed(Nestopia:9999999),Embed(Snes9x:9999999)"
But it will only start looking for Snes9x when the timeout for Nestopia is up.
So then i just simply changed the end of the startup line to "Embed(Nestopia:100),Embed(Snes9x:100),Embed(gba:1 0 0)" repeated few hundred times... Got some strange errors thou =/
Any idea how to have it looking for the windows all the time? (Or better, give it the ability of seeing when the emulator .exe starts, and then embedd it)

Introduction

------------

  SKINbedder V3 allows users to easily create a custom touchscreen-friendly

UI for any application or group of applications.  With it you will be able to 

auto-size, position, trim, and embed any group of windows to your own 

custom layout.  Hot-Spot graphics can then be overlaid allowing you to 

control the windows through your own custom UI.  Embedded windows can 

be made transparent by "deleting" one color and/or semi-transparent by 

alpha-blending the window.  Graphics are PNG which supports transparency 

and alpha-blending.  Hot-Spot controls (as well as responses to open, close, 

hibernate, and resume) are defined using a simple scripting language.







Installation:

------------

  Extract the entire contents of the .zip distribution file to the 

folder "c:\program files\SKINbedder".  You can then run SKINbedder.exe or 

SKINbedder_NOEX.exe from that folder (SKINbedder is distributed for use with

iGuidance.  iGuidance must be installed in its default location

"c:\program files\iNAV\iGuidance").



Note: SKINbedder should run from any folder as long as it has the proper

sub-folders and INI files.







Configuration:

-------------

  All configuration is done by editing INI files (and PNG graphics).  These

INI files (and PNG graphics) are organized in subfolders of SKIN\Window.  

Here are some examples of the type of settings you will find in the 

configuration files on each level.



  Skinbedder.ini - Sets the default "SKIN" to iGuidance and specifies re-draw refresh-rate.

  iGuidance\iGuidance.ini - Sets SKINbedders size/position/window name/startup-script/etc.

  iGuidance\iGMap\iGMap.ini - Sets the map size/position/nudging/etc.

  iGuidance\iGMap\Bookmark_Left.ini - Sets the actions/positions of the 4 left buttons.

  iGuidance\iGMap\BookmarkLeft_Down.png - The graphic of the 4 left buttons that you see.

Note: To change the location of iGuidance, you would edit the Run() 

command in the [Scripts], Startup= section of iGuidance\iGuidance.ini.







Making a new "SKIN":

-------------------

  Make a copy of the SKINbedder\iGuidance folder and rename it to the name 

of your new SKIN.  Edit SKINbedder.ini and change the "DefaultProgram" to 

the name of your new SKIN.  Go into your new folder and rename its 

iGuidance.ini to the name of your new SKIN.  Edit its INI file, change the top 

section name to the name of your new SKIN.  Change the Startup script in 

the INI file to run your program, embed your main window sub-folder, and 

load your skin-layer.  Rename the iGMap sub-folder to the name of your main 

window.  Go into it, rename its iGMap.ini, rename the section at the top of that INI file.  Edit the rest of the INI file to configure 

sizing/positioning/nudging/transparency/etc.  Rename BookMark_Left.ini to 

the name of your Skin-Layer.  Rename the section at the top of it and then 

edit the rest of it to configure graphics/action hot-spots/button commands.

SKINs:

-----

  SKINbedder V3 is designed so that you can use multiple instances of it to 

embed multiple different applications.  Each application layout is defined in 

a "SKIN" sub-folder.  SKINbedder V3 is distributed with an iGuidance SKIN.  

To launch SKINbedder with a different SKIN than iGuidance, simply pass the 

SKIN name as a parameter to SKINbedder.exe.  You can also change the 

default SKIN by editing SKINbedder.ini (used when double-clicking 

SKINbedder.exe or launching it without a parameter).  Through a SKINs INI 

file, you can set a the SKINbedder window name/size/position and the 

Startup/Shutdown/Hibernate/Resume scripts.











Window Containers:

-----------------

  Anything you want to embed is contained in a TWindowContainer.

Through a window container INI file, you can set the windows class, 

name, size, position, nudging, and transparency.  You size/position the 

window by specifying a Width, Height, TopBorder, BottomBorder, LeftBorder, 

and/or RightBorder (usually only 2, 3, or 4 of the 6).  Borders are the 

distance between the edge of the main SKINbedder form, and the edge of 

your embedded window.  If you do not specify any borders, you must specify 

width and height and your window will be centered.  If you specify all 4 

boarders are 0, you do not need to specify width and height and your 

window will be stretched to fit the entire area of the main SKINbedder form. 

 Borders are respected even when the main SKINbedder form is resized.  

See the table below for all possible combinations:



  Horizontal:  Width only:  Center

               Width+LeftBorder:  Left edge is LeftBorder pixels from left edge of main form.

               Width+RightBorder:  Right edge is RightBorder pixels from right edge of form.

               Width+LeftBorder+RightBorder:  Same as Width+Left except width will shrink if needed to respect right border.



  Vertical:    Height only:  Center

               Height+TopBorder:  Top edge is TopBorder pixels from top edge of main form.

               Height+BottomBorder:  Bottom edge is BottomBorder pixels from bottom edge of form.

               Height+TopBorder+BottomBorder:  Same as Width+Top except height will shrink if needed to respect bottom border.



  The window title-bar and border are automatically removed when it is 

embeded.  To remove a button-bar, status-bar or to only view a specific 

rectangle of the window, use the nudge settings.











Skin Layers:

-----------

  Each set of graphics are contained in a TSkinLayer.  Through a skin layer 

INI file, you can set the all-buttons-up image, the all-buttons-down image, 

the position of the skin layer, the coordinates for each button, and a 

OnButtonDown and/or OnButtonUp Command.  If you specify both commands, 

the button will function as a toggle button (it will stay down after one press, 

and run the OnButtonUp command on the second press).  The layer is 

positioned using Borders just like window containers are (but the width and 

height are determined by the all-buttons-up image).













Scripts:

-------

  SKINbedder works purely by executing its own scripting language.

  In the main ini there is a startup script, shutdown script, hibernate script, 

and resume script.  Also in each skin ini, each button has a command script.  

Scripts are a list of commands (see below) separated by commas.  There can 

be no spaces in the script.

I have SB setup perfectly for IG but now i want to start to use it to embed other apps and have no clue how to do this. I see that there are multiple folders setup for different apps, but how do i tell skinbedder to do anything?
I see the main SKINbedder.ini file, but its not real clear as to how to add multiple apps, it just says defaultprogram=iGuidance.

I figured out how to change it from launching IG and launch another app (by changing defaultprogram=X) but how do i get it to launch 2 apps?

sorry if this is explained somewhere, its just too hard (and takes too long) to dig through all these threads trying to find info

I am trying to embed OziExplorer using SKINbedder but for now just learning how to use it with Calculator & Notepad but not having much luck. I can get the 2 programs to run but they don't seem to embedded. I could get it to work with version 2 but not 2.999

The ini files I am using are at http://www.westcountry.com.au/aaron/embed.rar. No doubt it will be something stupid or obvious I am doing wrong but can't see it at the moment

I installed Centrafuse 1.4 and was looking to use SkinBedder to display iGuidance properly. I am having a problem with the skin I am trying to use. It is not displaying at all. I found a suggestion in my search about pressing the G key in oder to bring up the skin, that didn't work for me. I am also getting a fatal exception when I close Skinbedder sometimes.

Could someone help me out with these problems? Is there a install guide somewhere to refer to?

I finally decided to just get iGuidance since that is what this app was originally designed for and tested extensively with. I managed to get it working with only a few small .ini changes (yay!); however I get an outpouring of error messages if you hit the menu button twice. This happened to someone else in the main SkinBedder 2.99999 thread but I don't think a solution or whatnot was given for these errors.

Also, I saw where in the main 2.9999 thread there is a Centrafuse skin shown, I'd love to use that skin but am not sure how to go about applying that. Any suggestions?

What exactly do you have to do to get IG to embed without any borders or toolbars visible? Everytime i run SB i can see and drag the IG window around inside of SB. No matter what i do its just not embeded correctly either when i run SB standalone or embeded in a frontend (RR).

I dont care about the skins or buttons all i want is IG to open without any nag screen and to not have any borders or menu bar visible. Ive seen screenshots of other people with it working but i havent been able to duplicate this with ANY version of SB.

Am I the only one?

Since there's a subforum now, it didn't seem right to just keep adding on to the long thread about 2.999x. I've embedded it into RR and it comes up fine. But when I exit gps and come back in, I initially see the already opened iG, but then another one opens on top of it, slightly smaller. If I exit RR, there are multiple SB's on the taskbar. Sorry if this has been answered, but that's a lot of posts to read through and the solution I found didn't work. :o

What is it?

SKINbedder allows you to crop & skin ANY program.  It will create a window with which you can embed any number of other programs to.  You can then draw any number of skinned buttons over the window and have the buttons send any key-press to any of the embedded programs.





How is this different from iGSkinner?

It doesn't handle NAG screens or GPS re-connection (Yet).  It is designed to work with ANY program (including iGuidance, but for now you will have to click OK on the nag-screen yourself with-in 10 seconds).  It is my own design from scratch and it has a ton of features I needed for iG as well as my OBD datalogger software.





How do I use it?

All settings are made by editing a single INI file.  Below is the syntax for the non-obvious settings.

Only Window corner attachment works in beta 1, so use WTL, WTR, WBL, or WBR only. The corner setting is used so that when you re-size the window the buttons X, Y co-ordinates will be relative to the corner specified. This way you can make a button always Up 50 pixels and Right 100 pixels of the lower right corner, no matter how the window is re-sized.
