Where Is My GPS site update

I spoke with Leddy this morning about this, as a result of a post asking where the website went.

The site is down and will remain down indefinately.

He is having real life interfere with projects like this, unfortunately. His renewal came due on his hosting, and due to his inability to devote time and effort to the WIMGPS project, he did not renew the hosting.

The project is not dead and buried, but set aside for an undetermined length of time.

Site gone?

Ok... I finally uploaded my first log. I goto the web-site, and it shows where my car was before I entered the garage at my work. Isn't there a way to replay my route like in GPS Secure? All I have is a map with a dot and the last upload time. Now way to move back and fourth in time. I don't get it???

Plus I should have the past 5 days worth of logs, I just didn't connect my phone till today. I do have both log locally and remotely enabled. Doesn't it save all the logs and upload all history when internet becomes available?

Unless I am missing something, GPS Secure seems to be MUCH more feature rich.

WhereIsMyGPS.net Windows Mobile Client

Well it's finally here!

We've been working with Charlie Grillo to develop a WhereIsMyGPS.net client for windows Mobile devices. Charlie is the author of "GPS Monitor" a Windows Mobile GPS logger. He has agreed to modify his software per our specifications to work with our system. As a result he has full creative control over the source code. If you would like to to see any changes feel free to let me know and I can pass them along.

One of the main differences between the windows Mobile version, and the "PC" version is that a BT GPS is required, and that there is queuing for when a network connection is not available. Make sure to set the "Auto Catch Up" to take advantage of this feature.

Once you login to the website you will notice the newly available option for software download. Make sure you also install the runtimes or the application will not work.

This is a screenshot from CoPilot Live edition. The communication with the driver feature. I don't think it would be that hard to write that into the website and into the clientside program.

Also, on the clientside program, use of popup notification on errors... (ie multiple no responses, lost internet, lost gps lock, msgs if added, etc)

Thanks for this software and service - works well.

To those considering it, I just wanted to say that I am using "Whereismygps" software on a Xenarc Mobile PC connected to a Junxion Box Mobile Router with a Sierra Wireless 580 AirCard (Sprint) in it and it is working flawlessly so far.

Feature Request: Auto check for gps data

I've been running this software a few weeks now and its by far the easiest gps tracker for me. One problem i have tho is the program loads before my gps is ready, so each time i start the car i have to open the client up and click connect on the gps side to get it started. Is there any way to make it automatically check for gps data in say, minute intervals to prevent this?

We've added a new feature for people wanting to generate "signatures" for their websites.

Valid arguments are: username, and offset

This will display a PNG image with my information and adjust time to my local area (GMT -6)

To use in your webpage:

*Make sure to replace Username and offset with your information*

If your map is "hidden" requiring a password to view the Longitude and Latitude will display "Private"

Depending on the usage, I may make this an optional piece for donating members. We'll see what the load looks like on the server. Each image is almost 21k so be gentle about where you place.

1250km road trip results w/WIMGPS

Finished a one way 1250km road trip the other day. Was using WIMGPS with dialup networking over bluetooth (CDMA, 1x data access).

Overall, it worked pretty well.

One problem that kept recurring though:

After it was working fine, when the connection dropped, WIMGPS would freeze (not every time though.. maybe 40% of the time). Restarting it didn't work as it would just freeze after sending a GPS coordinate. The only solution was to reboot once or twice.

Other than that, there were no problems. I had a few people keeping track of us online and it seemed to work seemlessly (except the time zone stuff, which I think I may have messed up). The best part was when we were on a ferry boat and the gf did a screen cap of my location being in the middle of the water :)

Issues With Latest Update

Downloaded the latest update this week and am having some issues. For some reason, the WIMGPS screen goes completely blank when I leave it onscreen and jump back and forth to RR. When this happens I no longer know whether updates are being transmitted or not. For some unknown reason it stops working a minut or two later, locks up my screen and I have to use the task manager to kill it and restart.

I also noticed in the latest update WIMGPS only reads the GPS data once then transmits, whereas, the old version would collect 4-6 inputs from the GPS and then transmit. Was this intentional?

Can you move the WIMGPS window start location to 0,0? When it first starts on my system its half offscreen in th lower right corner and I have to move the window to be able to see the whole thing.

Outside of the U.S.A. and want to help?

I need to get some log files from people outside of the us. Here is the info I need.

GPS Receiver model number
Location of information received
Log file of all GPS NMEA sentences

There are a ton of logging utitlities. The easiest will most likely be to open HyperTerm and connect to the comport with the vendor recommended settings. (Usually 4800 Baud 8,N,1)

A good 5 minutes will be sufficient. If you can help, or have a log let me know so I can take a look at it.

Just wanted to say good job on this software Leddy!

Used it today on my trip home across Florida for about 7 hours of driving using an EDGE connection via bluetooth through my cingular phone. Had the normal occassional signal dropouts on the cell but even after coming back out of hibernation or reconnecting the internet connection the WhereIsMyGPS program never missed a beat. I just left it running in the background, left it on "connect" mode and it automatically would pick up after hibernation, get GPS from a virtual port on Xport and automatically upload when I reconnected cell connection.

Just wanted to say I've been around with it and works great here on my setup.
