but fiphone (andriod only) has now been voiced ,, meaning you can now use the ibass voice controll to use phone screen,,,..

all ibass voice functions are in place 98% of bass's features are in place ,, + all the settings you expect in fi default are in here too,

new list slider action can now touch any area of the slider and it will now jump to that area ....

there will be no help file at present , should'nt really need it , as i HOPE i designed the skin to be self explained

anyway enough crap from me ,, fingers X this weekend

I am pretty new at this CarPC stuff, but wasn't born yesterday hahahahah I would really ask you all, who is running the latest ver of FI being Alpha v12 (at least that's what I just got up and running) and was wondering, who is running what for their Navigation?

I've been testing tons of front ends lately ie Centrafuse, RideRunner etc and so far FI seems like a winner?! It's simple, fast and all the features that I need.

All I want in my sys are: GPS, Radio (duh), maybe iPod and anything else is just a bonus.

Anyways...please drop me a line here.....oh yeah, I've been reading a lot of embedding this n that into the FI....how the heck do you get to that point? Do you open it thru Windows or? Just need a little guidance and I'll take it from there :)

BASS is an audio library for use in Windows and Mac OSX software. you can use the prev/next to browse to next image , or click on a thumbnail to show that image, also under thumbnails there is a prev/next buttons if the gallery holds more than the alloctated images .
also you can zoom in on the current image
run a slideshow of the current gallery...

Album Art changes

1st looks for embeded art, if not found then looks at your music folder for folder.jpg,
if not found a noimage.jpg shown

Onstart cmd

This is fired on freeice start,
this will allow you to start any app on start of freeice, path to exe needed, edit line in settings.ini in root.

Plugin Manager

plugin Manager can be found in the settings screen ,, very very simple ,, the plugin is either on or off
depending on last state of plugin ,, freeice will always start up useing this state until changed.
ie. wifi plugin off,,, on restart wifi plugin will still be off, until switched on

fifuelprices plugin

As there has been some changes to all the plugins , for plugin manager to work, this plugin at this present
time will not work under alpha 13,, please stay on alpha 12 if you wish to continue useing this plugin.
Enforcer will inform everyone when he has updated the plugin..

This just a Quick note to let you all know whats happening behind the scene's.

What you see here is just the concept of how GenesisPure will look , in Most part somethings may have to

This is my 1st time dealing with flash, so this is not a over night thing , will take some time ,i'll be useing the format of Freeice as is now.

i'm just posting these images as a idea in progress and allowing all you guys to comment ,suggest ideas
this early in the coding ,,this way we can add easily add as I build the skin.
I'll will also be supporting Bass when that is also ready to go as well in time,Which will open alot of doors in your media entertainment.

The idea

Is to respect Steve's goal of clean, smooth and ease to use, most functions are hidden until called for,
i want to keep the screens clean as possiable ,with minamal graphic use, allowing the speed to not be hampered, also allows quick glance useage ,taking from a driving point of view, too many buttons ,labels makes it confuseing and mistakes to happen when trying to change something while driving.
not that you should be doing complicated actions while driving anyway lol...

Tips

Just drop the files into your skin folder , change the setting in your settings.ini

It will work something like this...

Country -- ie..

UK (folder with flag)
USA (folder with flag)

Then when you press the UK folder it will have things like
BBC Radio 1.asx
BBC Radio 2.asx
etc....

Also in that folder can be jpg images called the same name as the asx file.. ie
BBC Radio 1.jpg
This image will show like an album cover (see pic below)

I would like to package these internet radio channels with FI, so you have them to hand from start.

I've included a few to get going but could do with a lot more.

I think Alpha 8.2 marks a milestone within FreeICE and it's content. I do think it's now fully usable in the car and brings afew bits to the car that haven't been seen before.

settings should be stored in program Settings class(XML)
or if you want indivual files like you have
stored as XML files

while you could write unicode .ini files, you would
have to assume everyone edits text files in unicode (and they dont)
if you didnt intend the user to edit these directly
all the more reason not to use .ini files

Download the attached file, unzip it and put the tropicalboard.jpg into the backgrounds folder which is in the skin folder of FreeICE.

Start FreeICE up and enter 'edit mode' by simply press and holding an empty space on the menu screen.. select to change the background (bottom right button) and the toggle through until you see the moving wallpaper.. tap it and and away you go :-)

This is the second release of FreeICE v2. It's been coded from scratch in VB.net 4 and has a Flash skin that sits on top. FreeICE v2.0 is an all new Frontend. I lost the source the v1 and since vb6 is now no more, its time for an update I thought.

Alpha 1 release will contain the basic media player which will play all audio/video files
Alpha 2 release will contain navigation embedding (need to know which one is the most popular)
Alpha 3 release will contain radio (Silabs as that's all I have at the moment)
Alpha 4 release will contain gallery / file copy / settings screen and other bits
Alpha 5 ....

Enforcers plugin's
Dab radio (need a unit to play with)
Phone bluetooth headset support

It's coded in VB.net backend with Flash frontend. It's completely skinable in flash (swishmax is what I use) and I will be releasing 'how to skin' videos soon. In my eyes it's just as easy.. if not easier to skin than RR!







I'm currently just finalising the media player at the moment and expect an alpha release to be within the next week... keep watch :-)

It sounds simple I know but it ain't.
I can get Ibus codes just fine with Ibuscomm and ibuscomm can send key strokes just fine but FreeIce doesn't support key strokes yet but it does accept windows messages.

So I figured I could get Ibuscomm to send windows messages. The version I have says that it can (1.87) but I couldn't get it to work with FI.

So I thought I could use girder and intercept the key strokes that Ibuscomm is sending out and use girder to send WM or mouse clicks to FreeIce. Sounds simple. I configured girder, got it reading key strokes and executing commands in freeice but it won't recognize key strokes from ibuscomm!

So I'm stuck. I either need to figure out why ibuscomm won't send windows messages to freeice or why ibuscomm won't send key strokes to girder.

I would also like to send commands to my ibus but that's another story :P

ibusRR seems to have more functionality than ibuscomm but I don't use RR. The menus work like so........

In the skin folder you will find skin.ini (looks like..)

So you can now change the position of all the buttons. They work as

If the COMMAND is not one in my skin file then it first looks for it in the fi.ini and if its not found in there it looks through the skin.ini..

You can see how it works as I have used it in my Games menu.. Because GAMES command isnt part of my skin it looks for GAMES line in fi.ini then skin.ini when it fines it in the skin.ini it embeds it the same way it does the gps.

Well I have taken the plunge and started coding my own frontend.. It so far does music / video / gps / silabs radio / calc ... its coming along quite fast.

All the development work is being done over on www.digital-car.co.uk which are UK carpc forums... I will however switch it to my FreeDrive forums once its into beta stages.

It is a windows media player based frontend written in VB6 with a flash front.

I am trying to make it out of the box as much as possible.
