Freedrive is very cool! The best navigating software for the carpc so far. :)

But I have two problems:

First problem:
FreeDrive (and MapMonkey too!) stoped to calculate the route. I enter an addess or choose one of my favourites, but nothing happens. No blue route-line appears, no "drive carefully", just nothing changes. My location is updated perfectly so the gps and the map seems to work. But calculating the route fails with no error message. Help! :o


Second problem:
I normaly use the Map "Alps". Everything is fine, but when I want to enter the name of a city or street, the list of cities or streets only gets updatet till the 3rd or 4th letter. No matter how many letters I type and write the whole name of the city in the field, the list won't jump to the city and highlight it. It just stays on the first city or street that matched the first three letters. On some names the selecting works till the 4th or 5th letter, but most of the time only till the 3rd letter.
I noticed that this problem seems not to apear in the map "Switzerland" (which I don't want to use...) :(


BTW: Did someone find a way to use the new 2006 Destinator maps? MapMonkey refuses to start if I select one of these. :yum:

So then i installed this on my second machine, and same error. What am i missing?

FD is great - unlike most other apps I've tried, this worked first time. However, I have got a couple of problems:

1) I installed FD v0.80 which worked first time, but got a run time error (9 - subscript out of range) when selecting the DefaultTouch skin. I downloaded v0.85 Freedrive.exe file and overwrote the v0.80 file but this still doesn't work. If I then restart FD, I end up with a screen with a grey border and no UI. Is this a known bug?

2) On a recent test drive I noticed that the speed indicator was consistently 5-6mph lower than the actual speed. Is there a facility to compensate the GPS derived speed - this will obviously be important for the speed camera notifications! I appreciate this is not a problem with FD but it would be a useful feature.

3) I recently purchased what I believed to be the latest edition of D3 - unfortunatley it turned out to be Q2 2003 rather than the Q4 2004 maps that I was expecting. Is there any source for obtaining maps on their own - even just the UK maps would be a good start.

4) I assume that once I obtain and update the maps to the latest version I will start to get more meaningful instructions at roundabouts? At the moment the instructions I get do not tell me which exit to take.

Keep up the great work - I've been following these forums for a long time and have always been impressed by the wealth of information available.

Just got the PC back in the car, and tried the latest alpha and noticed above.

1. if the logs folder does nor exist and you ask it to record freedrive goes crazy. trouble is everytime you restart freedrive it still can't find the logs folder and crashes. I have noe crested logs folder and it works fine, but a couple of lines of code to check if the folder exists and if not the create should be added ;)

2. Don't know if this has been covered in other threads, have had a brief look, but is the position of the camera waring user defineable. Today I had the warning up, but underneath was a tutning I needed to make, and there were two roads close to each other. I would like to move it to the side (well really I would like to play around with the position to find the best place for it.

3. It's defo getting better with every release. That noise if you are above the speed of the camera is really annoying. It's great. :D

When i have been going into houses I have been unplugging the USB GPS (BU-303) and instead of shutting down FD and reloading when I reconnect the GPS I go into GPS settings and hit save to get it to recognise the GPS again sometimes it causes a BSOD.

It doesnt happpen everytime. Might be an unrelated driver error specific to my laptop but it does only happen when I press the save button.

I had Freedrive working, but somehow the map have freezed. The position data on the top and speed info works fine, but the map shows the position where I last booted the system.

Have I hit a wrong button/option that freezes the map?

Any solution? Reinstall?

the only thing i can think that it could be is the cam import, i remember CDR saying something about it updating every 5 mins, and that how often im geting the error, and ideas?

I'm not sure where. I assume it was to one of the previous routes i mapped.

AFter i cancelled them it would stay fine for maybe a minute and then map again. any ideas?

I test this weekend the FreeDrive, It looks very well, but I have some problems with my GPS.

Allways my GPS-USB sift chipset run well (siftdemo, mapsonic, mapmonkey) but In freedrive don't show any Satellite (and my gps are up and running correctly)

I put the correct settings (com port 4, and 38400) (NMEA, protocol). But never gets to run.. (it is the same that the mapmonkey and mapsonic use)

I try uninstall and install in the English windows version (C:\Program Files\ (in spanish are C:\Archivos de programa), but no..

Only one time runsme (in port 4, 4800), but only run one time after close and open the program, never run again.

I will like test the the GPS and help to run with FreeDrive anybody can said me that steps can I do for debug the problem???

Finaly I find one configuration thats run, EMEA, com 4 and 4800. but runs very bad, (all time showme that have a 10-20 km/h) and some times have 4000 hm/h:-D.

Is the support of sift protocoll complete?? in 0.52 PLUS?

After of some trys more, I wait for new versions, becasue for spanish maps the software don't run well.

It contains two pics - gimp.gif which shows main background pic (800x600) as drawn in Gimp and the other one - fd.gif which shows how this skin is represented in FD (size set as 800x600 as well). Please do not reffer to color representation caused by conversion to GIF format, but rather to how the actual lines are somehow scaled down by FD, even if I keep same size so there should be no scaling at all.
The other thing you may notice is bottom scrll button is off-position by about 15 pts (too down). This can be actually seen in all the skins and have only been observed on 0.4.

I have realized while accidentally re-launching Freedrive, while already running, that its not really immune to such situation. I was shown with bunch of error message windows, mainly complaining about denied access to ini file. This could be probably recognised as a bug and thus you might want to fix it.
Some more suggestions on the way :)

133 is correct, but maybe rounding doesn't work.
