Looking for beta testers

Hi Ric,

I have just started to try the new beta version (delay due to having no wireless router) and all seems well so far.

I would second the option for removable media to be made "opt in" rather than "opt out". I have a high number of removable drives and to have to add the opt out for each is slightly anoying. :nutz:

What would also be nice is support Client side for removable drives - IE if the client - which normal just uses wireless - detects a removable drive it could sync data off of it depending on settings in the client program. This way the music on the car PC could be updated by wireless or removable drive.

Will keep you apprised if any bugs apear.:chase:

I've made that change already so will be in the final release (which I'm almost ready with now).

It *can* be updated by wireless or removable drive. :)

Provided the content of the removable media conforms to the required directory structure, as published in the user guide, then this is exactly what will happen - if you plug in some removable media, it will sync from it. It doesn't have to have been written by the server.

one small question about sync using removable drive....

Is it incremental sync or total...

eg if i had the following on the CARPC

Music
Album 1
Album 2

and I had Album 3 on the removable drive, would it copy Album 3 accross and leave 1 and 2 alone or would it remove them because they are not present on the removable drive.

So far so good on the testing, im just get so fed up with wireless coms... half the time I can get the devices to talk to each other. Maybe its distance how far do you have you car reciver from the wireless access point?

Removable sync behaves the same as cumulative sync so it will only add in files that are not already there or have changed. It won't delete stuff.

My car is parked in a garage, and the access point is upstairs in the house. They're probably about 8 metres apart but there are two walls in between them. I have a high gain antenna on my access point to help a bit. Cost about £6 if I remember correctly. If you are really keen you can buy an external booster antenna.
