    Xenarc into 6.5" oem housing?

Would like to fit a a 7" Lilliput or Xenarc TSV into this OEM LCD housing but the original screen opening is slightly too small as the original LCD is 6.5". Is there a way to cleanly enlarge the opening to make this work?

there are lots of ways to cleanly enlarge the opening... the thing is that most people don't have the patience, skill, or wallet to do it.

If you're one of the people that do, then what I would advice you to do is mark out the new opening with a bright green masking tape so you have some contrast, and use a dremel to cut to the edges. Use a sanding block to straighten edges and smooth them. If you still want to have the bevel, you're probably running a little short on space, but you should research the fabrication forum a little bit with particular attention paid to the sticky regarding creating bezels.

I was going to reccomend the same, with the use of the tape. I would cut where the bevel is all the way around and the xenarc case should come close to fitting then you will still have a small bevel.

Thanks for the input guys but not quite following the bevel part. If I cut all around the bevel to enlarge the opening how would I have any bevel left? I mean, wouldn't the bevel be completely cut out?

I would use a xenarc and mold the case to the factory piece then you still have a little bevel from the xenarc case

i guess it depends on how "factory" he wants it. If you can just be a badass with the dremel and avoid paint finishes then it can look incredible. otherwise, you're right. plastic fillers = universal bandaid

or you can just mount the screen behind the opening and lose .5" from corner to corner... that would really be mickey mousing it though... you can adjust the resolution on the screen to be slightly smaller or adjust the input itself to fit so that it'll be 6.5"... how much room do you have to play in the back though?

I personally would enlarge the hole and just use some epoxy and bondo and paint the peice.... ORR you can of course just make a whole new peice... that looks like an OEM radio/navi unit, just make a mold of that peice and make it so that there is JUST a screen in that place since i'm assuming that you're not going to be using the OEM radio anymore....
