Has any one here done a BMW Z4 setup?

I just bought all the components i need for a carputer and i did some search couldn't find ANY Z4 (not Z3) LCD setups.

I don't have the factory Nav LCD to play with so what i'm thinking of doing is removing the stock stereo and the air vents above it. that gives me room for a 2-DIN LCD setup. it will look very cool. just wondering what other people have done to their Z4s.

I'll post pictures as soon as the install is complete.

I used to have a z4, I would never have dared starting a carputer project in it though... Thumbs up for doing it! Keep us posted! Can't wait to see how you get along
    Planning: It's not my thing...
Testing: Not really my thing either...
Install: Guess around 60% Software takes soooo long....

if you look up darthtater on this site, he's got a Z4 screen, the one that fold up/down, and integrated it into his 5 series. He cut the dash. I know not directly related, but good to get a good look to understand how it all works etc.

There's another guy on here, his name is something like blof I think, though I'm not sure he uses that as his nick. He got some high resolution screen, and replaced the screen in his 3 series board computer with it. He's work is somewhat genius in my opinion, and he's gone to a lot of lengths to preserve the original look, but at the same time as increasing the resolution of his screen.

I would have a look perhaps at combining the two projects above. That is, find the Z4 screen that folds up, then get an LCD that's higher res than the standard, and replacing it. That would be fab (in both meanings of the word )

Also, do search for ibus, to see why BMW's are great for carpc's
