BMW E36 Climate Control and Screen Fitting

This was orginally via PM, but thought I would make a thread so others can gain knowledge as well.

Well the sunglasses holder was basically cut along the line a couple of millimeters up.

The Climate Control I had to remove and cut the protruding bit from the back, and dangle the main board underneath where the switches got in front of the Gear stick.

One day I will take pics, but not untill I need to take it out again.

You can see just where the CC curves thatthere is a gap on either side.

My final plan is to fabricate my HU facia where the buttons are, so hope to make the panel curve up to fill those

What PSU are you using? How are you powering the Touch screen? What wires are you running? To the front? Where did you hide you CPU? I was thing of trying to put one in place of the cd changer holder

Currently I have a Compaq EN SFF PC running off an Inverter, but that is changing to an MATX board running off an OPUS 150W.

The touch screen is powered via a 12V regulater connected to the +12V and ACC with a relay, so it only comes on when the key is in at least the ACC position. This is connected behind the glove compartment.

The PC is not hidden as of yet, have a look at my site, there are some pics of where it is. However the new one will be somewhere different (keeps changing that's why it is not in yet).

Wires to the front: Audio, Mouse, Lilliput cable runs to under the backseat where it is extended by VGA and USB extensions.

My car is in the shop as of now but when it returns i will be installing the bezel screen. Where is this +12v and ACC located. I am new to tearing into cars. I am used to ripping into computers.

What is your Audio Setup?

Just a basic HU which is in the Glove.

The power I tapped into the HU feeds.

Oh I see. It seems you are the only one that completed the entire setup for the e36. What HU you use? What was the turn around on the bezel? Do you make Bezels your self or you just sticking with mybimmers.net?

I wouldn't say the enitire set up is complete. I still have lots to do.

HU is a Pioneer KEH xxxx

The Bezel was about a 2 weeks or so but SrCsTc had a fall during that period so it got delayed, and I had a mare with the Postal service this end.

I tried making bezels but in the end it was better getting the one from mybimmer.net.

When i say complete. I am referring to a functioning setup with the bezel. Do you use any TV cards?

The current PC has a dual VGA and TV out, but the monitor I had in the headrest dies, so I haven't been using two screens for a while.

However the new PC is Dual PCI, so I will be putting VGA screens in the headrests
