    Fabrication material in India

I have started this thread for my Indian friends.I have seen that fabrication material is easily available in U.S. but its very difficult to even get any information about it in India.Nobody knows or even cares about doing it.

But i have found it and want to share it with everyone specially people who live in India.

The material that can be used as a filling (bondo as is known in U.S.) is mseal by pidilite.U can easily get it in any hardware shop,it is mainly used to fix a leaking pipe or leaking tank etc....It comes with a resin base and a hardener. It can also be used on any plastic or metal.

I personally tried it.I mixed equal portion of the hardener and the resin base, tried it on a plastic piece and let it dry.It says it will be hard in about 30 minutes but it took around 3 hr so that sand paper could be used to smoothen it.

It cost INR 10 for a 30gms pack.Bigger packs are also available. It can be used to make a customized bezel.Hope someone will soon try it and post it on mp3car forum.

If anyone finds a better material easily available in India plz let us know.

i don't know how much a INR is, but why not "import" it? let someone in the US or Europe send it to you?
that way you can easily use whatever we are using, and maybe it's cheaper...

    1 US Dollar = Indian Rupee(INR) 40

It is not possible for everyone to import it.And this material is available easily in India and it is very cheap.

Will be using it for my car project soon.....

Sounds like we need to outsource custom bezel fabrication to India!

Go to a decent paint/body shop and ask for polyester putty. It costs less than 200 rupees for 500 gms, cures in around 5 minutes and is ready for sanding in 20 mins (depending on the resin:hardner mix).

Bondo is a brand name and may not be known here. There are similar body fillers available used for automotive bodywork. Here is one such local manufacturer, http://www.gkionline.com/

    Cheers.
