I say you build me a PC case just like that (if it fits a micro atx).

Been looking for a cool one, and that's pretty cool. Looks like good air flow too~

Wow. Very nice looking case ya got. Shame it doesnt fit MicroATX. You should mass produce that thing and sell it.

If you get the time, can you take pics of the power going into the box? It looks like the case is pretty removable in the event you need to take it inside to work on it, which is ideal.

    Edit:

Found these for anyone in the US. Not sure if there are cheaper/better ones out there.

Thanx for nice coms. The power going to case is 8 awg wire from the battery and about 10cm of thiner wire, would say 16awg to fit the plug. The second conector will be used for power button and LED cause vw sciroco aparently does not have ignition wire .
I'll take pictures when ever i'll put the box in.
I was thinking of making say 10 cases laser cut from brushed stainless and tig welded. Will have to look in to this. I was al so planing of making enclosure for car pc for the front din (instead of stereo). That would make pretty neat solution if you have two double din and nano itx. What you think about that? I was always temted to build somethink.

You'd have to see what most people have.

I know that at the last Northern VA meet, only a couple had mobo's in the dash.

So most of the community might be running comps in the back.

I always plan to have mine in the back, so I can easily take it out to work on it, or reach in for upgrades, etc.

So I'd buy one that fit micro atx (more options), and 1 extra fan spot (side mounted). I'm sure a lot of others would, pending price/shipping.

mp3car might even offer to start carrying them as a item? Something else to look into.

    Edit:

The reason I was wondering about pics of the power connectors, as it seems you have made them into plugs, that easily disconnect. I was looking into doing this myself, for (again) taking it inside as needed. The easier it is to disconnect, the more likely I will when it's very cold, dropping it off to get work done, leaving town, etc etc.

    Movie clip of working unit

    Thanx for reply Phatsacks.
What mor options you can get from micro atx exept the price?
I will look in to micro atx case developing. The onli thing i dont like that micro atx is i think too big for car application and mini itx is spot on, not to big and not too small.
The problem is that you cant make neat micro atx case. It would be square or too long. Search my posts and find "my first car pc with micro atx case" i had micro atx case built some time ago.
Would you use pci and if so how many?

While I at most would only use one or two PCI, most would probably use none.

    Some would use more.

There is a strong chance, I will be using a 4 port USB PCI card.

Mini-ITX is nice for the form factor, when the form factor is the only concern (or low watt).

I spent $120, for a mobo/cpu and the cpu was an AMD X2 1.9ghz. If something goes wrong with the mobo, I can easily swap it out for little cost (often on sale on newegg for under $50). The processor is AM2, which gives plenty of options as well. Similarily, other options for MicroATX obviously exist for intel slots, I just snagged the 45w dual core CPU that was for a good price/combo.

I'm not against Mini-itx, I just think that MicroATX is more flexible in options, and if you're not doing a dash mount, that the larger form factor isn't hurting anything (unless you're doing under the seat mount).
