Suggestions for integrating screen into dash, '02 Camry Sportivo Carputer TouchScreen

I have been working getting my carputer ready to go into my Camry... I purchased a new spare aircon/headunit surround from Toyota a while back... and this afternoon i finally got time to tackle it...

I have removed the front frame for the Lilliput EBY701 Touchscreen... and I have hot-glued it into position to make it easy for mounting properly...

Now i need to know the best way to fill the gaps either side and to fasten the frame to the headunit surround

Suggestions? I was thinking maybe car bog...? probably need something behind to fill the gap first to stop the bog just falling through???

But coming in towards those buttons is going to be rough. And would make them hard to push. Maybe relocating them above the left vent hole, to mirror the right would help.

The link you provided, the person only placed the screen behind the bezel, did not molding at all. To fill in the gaps you can place masking tape infront of the screen and use fast drying resin behind it. I don't know if your bezel would be a good candidate for my favority type of molding...

a technique I use for filling the gap is quite simple, although it may sound ghetto, it works and I developed it myself during this same type of process. Basically when you need to create a wall and fleece is not a good canidate due to the tight space constraint, then I turn to popsicle sticks. I use the sticks to build the structure of where I want the wall to be and I use CA GLUE to attach the stick to the right area. From here I use Duraglass, a mix of body filler n fiberglass (reinforaced body filler) over the sticks to fill the gaps. With the duraglass you get your basic shape after sanding, then apply a premium liteweight filler for finishing

I found another method i think would be good... My other creation: 2000 Honda Accord SE setup.

My best mate suggested using some clear acylic and painting the back side with black... (i could then leave a tiny unpainted circle for the IR receiver). But my question is, how is the best way to mount the screen to the acylic and the best way to mount the acrylic to the facia...?

i would just cut the oem panel up and make the bezel flush

I have been using Selley's plasti-bond to fill gaps like those for a Mazda 6 job I am doing.

It's quite good, pretty easy to mix, sets fast and is reasonably easy to sand as well.

The great thing about it is that it bonds to plastics and wood. The stuff is avaliable from Bunnings for about $11 AUD.
