How to: 7inch Xenarc lcd installed in Nissan GU Patrol

just installed this 7inch xenarc LCD into my gu patrol, nice clean install i think this monitor was made for this car lol, here's how its done..

First Cut of 2 small plastic clips on back of center console with knife..

next remove buttons or they will keep pressing, do this by removing all screws and lifting board.

next i used hot glue to secure screen making sure that the screen is pressed hard up against plastic so that there are no gaps around screen..

you need to cut the bottom piece of plastic out with hacksaw and the corners of the clip mounts in the dashboard itself with side cutters as shown below.

    and your done! easy as..

    Ok Az. Perth here. G'day

    Mate, your a freaking genius.
Its 2.30am, I'm working tomorrow and I’ve been sitting here going over and over your pc project for 2 hours. Now my wife’s getting ****y so a quick registration, reply and some well deserved accolades and I'm outa here.
As the proud owner of a silver 3lts 2003 Patrol myself I’ve had it in my head for some time to fit an in car pc. Iv surfed the web and keep coming up with long (and tedious) lists of hardware and software but nothing that relates exactly to my Patrol. I feel like I should be sending you a cheque or bottle of grog something. Ok, you’ve motivated me and while I'm kinda nervous about starting a project that is clearly far beyond my skill level and that I suspect my centre console may well end up looking more like Homer Simpson’s bird house, I'm into it. Think I might go get a new console from Nissan and start on that. Thanks very much for sharing your work.
I’m sure this post will be followed up shortly with a few technical questions such as "how do I unglue my fingers from my console? " and " Were 3 inch galvanised nails really the best choice?" but will muddle through and hope for a reply . Nice home page BTW.
    Bed time here.
    Thanks again.

hey mate cheers, good to see another proud patrol owner. The good thing i found with the patrol is it is so easy, im sure its made to fit a pc lol ill send you some info and pics on the motherboard mounting, as long as you do not have a passenger airbag it can be done in a couple of hours.. My carputer is still running and its even been to cape york along 1000's of km's of corrugations one thing i had to fix was hot-glueing all!! the cables on the MB into place as some like to shake around a bit causing the pc to crash.. Good luck.

Hi mate, GU Patrol owner here too. Have you got a write up of your CarPC anywhere? Which xenarc screen did you use? My pc is mounted in the empty airbag compartment too.

Hot glue melts in the summertime if you're parked in the sun. Don't want to rain on your parade but hot glue does not last speaking from my experiences. One hot summer day I found my screen had fallen back about 1cm from the glue getting soft. Just a heads up!

Yeah I did consider this, but touchwood so far so good, and ive been in darwin for the last 2 months with 35 degree days and 80 - 90% humidity.. damm hot! lol.
here is the install of the motherboard, i made a custom plate for it to sit on out of 1mm sheet metal bent up at the two sides and folded down at front, riveted into place, also im using a Sandisk CF extreme4 4gb as the main hdd because in off road use normal hdd's seem to skip abit causing windows to crash, my 500gb storage drive has been good so far,
