you need to start over with stripping off all paint you mixed paint somewhere down the line
go to a auto paint store and get primer base and clear by same manufacturere
So I finally got my custom center bezel with 7" LCD into my 240SX. I used Bondo-Glass to mold the LCD's bezel into the car's bezel, then used some thinner regular Bondo to properly smooth it out. But I'm having problems with paint. The first paint I used had some kind of reaction with the plastic, or primer, and basically repelled in some spots. I sanded it down and tried again with the same result. So I bought new paint and put on a few coats. Looked excellent...like a factory piece. It went in the car yesterday. Unforunately, now that it has been in the car today, and it is rather hot actually, the paint has bubbled and cracked. What gives? What kind of paint do you use for you plastic/Bondo pieces. I'm looking for a brushed aluminum type color.

I'm not an expert with paint by any means....but I've had very good results with paint made by "VHT"...

gona be gloss black so it has to be perfectly bondoed!
Well I've sanded down the piece again, and repainted it with the same paint. This time I put more coats on so hopefully it will be alright. I put it back in the car tonight so we'll see how it does in the sun tomorrow.
Ok so I definitely still need help here. It bubbled again, although not as bad this time. The paint says not to use it on things that will exceed 200 degrees, but surely it is not that hot in my car. Why is this happening? Can anyone recommend could paint? I'm looking for an aluminum color.
Brewdog, I see that VHT has an interior paint, but I only see it in black. Is that their entire product line?
here is an aluminum colored epoxy paint, I think this would be better to use rather than plastic paint for interior parts, but that's just me....someone more experienced may say different.
VHT-SP657 aluminum Satin finish
they also have these colors in plastic paint
VHT-SP975 Acura Light Gray Satin finish
VHT-SP982 Subaru Light Gray Satin finish
VHT-SP977 Honda Clear Gray Satin finish
sand down and prime whith upol primer. then if ya want do a single stage semigloss or trim paint
if you want gloss use house of kolors base and upol clear you need to go to your auto paint store. stay out of pepboys i would not mix manufacturer material unless its been proven
like I said I'm no expert, but when I painted mine, I used very thin coats...can't remember how many but was at least 6 or 7..I sprayed a coat, let dry for about 25 min then sprayed another..turn out good imo, even, no runs/bubbles, not too thick, no cracking, and after about 4 months it still looks good, and it's hardly ever parked in the shade during the day...
