    painting ABS

Read tons of posts. Here is what I planning on doing.

    1. Clean with dishsoap/water
    2. Wipe with waxoff
    3. Use duplicorol primer. There is nothing special for plastic in Autozone, should I look for better one? I'm planning on doing few coats so I can sand and remove imperfections
    4. sand primer ligthly and paint. I'm planning on using interior paint by duplicolor. But does it matter if it's interior paint? I'm painting over primer anyway...

Do I need adhesion promoter or ABS will be fine? Do I need special primer?

    Thanks!

You should be fine doing what you listed above. Go for it.

No need for special interior primer? Just pick one from those they have?
No need to do adhesion promoter on sanded ABS if I clean it very well?

Honestly, just read the can. If it says you can use it on ABS (plastic) you'll be just fine. This goes for the primer and the paint.

I've never used adhesion promoted and never had any issues. As you said, just be sure to clean it good between sanding/priming/sanding/painting and you'll be fine.

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

I've had good luck with krylon fusion, it's supposed to bond to the plastic itself, and I've had no issues to date. Right on the can it says "No Sanding, No Primer Needed" so you should be fine with that. (Wal Mart carries it, and I think Home Depot and Lowes do as well)

problem with the fusion stuff is you are stuck to whatever colors they offer, which if i remember correctly dont really correspond to many interiors. i used the rustoleum plastic primer and covered it with the spray can form of plasti dip, and its a near match to my factory plastics in both color and texture.

krylon might make a fusion primer, allowing you to choose a top coat that best matches your interior, but i am not sure.

I used the fusion as a primer, and then got a different can to match the color I was after. Fusion will bond to ABS, and the other paint will bond to the fusion...
