Wow that's a huge monitor
What's the easiest way to finish this bezel? I want to retain the factory bezel, with it's curve that doesn't exactly square with my 10.4" screen.
The curve's ok, don't care that I'm losing a little real estate on my monitor. My question is how is the best way to try to form up the bumper repair material to make the bezel fit back nicely to my screen?
with factory bezel trimmed out, ready to finish.... somehow....

My carpc worklog
yea it's a big screen. worked really well.
My problem is that for the bezel, I don't have a 'square' edge to mold to. Obviously using the original frame is out of the question as well since I'm not molding to the original square screen.
Only thought I have is to foil the screen, put some plastic strips to act as a form, and then go from there. As long as it's smooth and follows the original contour, I guess that's as good as I'll get.
any other suggestions welcome.
i would have tackled this differently than you, but my advise to you is mask off the screen, put the bezel over it, and carefully fill in the voids, then take the bezel off and do a final sanding on it to get the inside edge straight and visually appealing.

make a wood frame out of .25 square dowel wood that fits the screen, then cut the OEM trim panel back .25 on all the edges. Then proceed to tack in the wood bezel to the OEM frame, then glue it all in, then sand it all down, then fill it, then prime and paint. This is the best way.
The dowel square wood will give you a nice sharpe clean edge
yea, unfortunately I had to do it this way. The problem is the lower right corner is wider than the brown plastic that the black bezel snaps into. (It's also the corner the backlight wires come out of.) So there was no way to attach it to the bezel....
carefully filling in the voids is where I think I have to go. Was just looking for someone who had a better way.
thanks
you could cut the entire bezel down to the lowest point on there, then mount the screen further out.

My commute is mainly N/S, so I have alot of side window sunlight. The recessed screen shadows it, and it's got GREAT viewability, and no glare. Moving screen forward is not an option. Anyone with option to do a shadow screen -- should, in my opinion.
What I've decided to do, is to use tape, while bezel is in place, to set my 'gap' from bezel to screen. Remove bezel and then epoxy plastic strips to the backside of the bezel that comes out to the height of the tape. Once cured -- reinstall bezel to verify distance, and then remove again, and just fill in the small amount needed to make everything smooth.
dosent look bad at all! when running skins do you set the size bigger? or is that screen running a 800X600 resolution?
